will become. It should be laid out. I have laid it out. In between, one should also generate three thoughts: I, the monk named so-and-so, this garment will become the permanent property of the Sangha, it will be laid out. It should be laid out. I have laid it out. At the time of the final stitch of the completed sewing, one should also generate three kinds of thoughts: I, the monk named so-and-so, this garment will become the permanent property of the Sangha, it will be laid out. It should be laid out. I have laid it out. Like this, wherever the Sangha resides, when the permanent property is first laid out, from within that boundary, however many monks reside equally, even those whose lineage is extremely pure, if they rejoice upon hearing that the Sangha has laid out the permanent property, then all of them are called having laid out the permanent property. Thus, it is called having been laid out. What is not laid out? The opposite of that is not laid out. Like this, if the Sangha lays out the permanent property before three months have passed, it is called the permanent property not laid out. This is called the permanent property not laid out. What is removed? The permanent property will be removed by eight words such as "not." What are they? Like this, having removed and left, and having completed, and having completely completed, and having deteriorated, and having heard, and having exceeded the boundary, and having interrupted the thought, and the matter of request and eight words, this is called removed. What is not removed? The opposite of this is not removed. However, if any of the eight kinds of interruptions occur, even if a monk arises and leaves specifically from the place where it was laid out, it is also called the permanent property not removed. Thus, it is called the permanent property not removed. What is a heavy article? It is what should not be divided. What is a light article? It is what should be divided. What is an article that should be divided? It is the property of a deceased monk that should be divided. What is that? It is all the light articles other than the deceased's Dharma robes. This is called an article that should be divided. What is an article that should not be divided? It is the property of a deceased monk that should not be divided. What is that? It is all the heavy articles other than the deceased's Dharma robes. This is called an article that should not be divided.

Oh. Therefore, the utensil that is heavier than the reproach of the Dharma robe is the Dharma robe for nursing the sick. If there are other lighter utensils besides it, such as iron alms bowls, small alms bowls, and non-alms bowls, these are also utensils that can be distributed. Those made of khar-ba, as well as copper, keys, knives, needles, nail clippers, tweezers, fire flints, axes, brooms, water filters, etc., these are utensils that can be distributed. Any utensils that are lighter than these can also be distributed. Any utensils that are heavier than these cannot be distributed; all of these should be placed for the sake of the Sangha of the four directions. Among the wooden containers, such as yang-mig (a type of wooden container), Dharma water filters, large bowls, and kham-pa bowls, these are also utensils that can be distributed. Any utensils that are lighter than these can also be distributed. Any utensils that are heavier than these cannot be distributed; all of these should be placed for the sake of the Sangha of the four directions. Belonging to the kham-pa containers are alms bowls, small alms bowls, non-alms bowls, pottery, bottles, small bottles, pill scoops, etc., these are utensils that can be distributed. Any utensils that are lighter than these can also be distributed. Any utensils that are heavier than these cannot be distributed; all of these should be placed for the sake of the Sangha of the four directions. The boiled dye should be used to dye the robes of the Sangha of the four directions. The unboiled dye can be distributed. The five great dyes cannot be distributed. If it is a bed made of jewels, it can be disassembled and distributed. If it is small, if it is made of iron, and if it can be used as a tool, then it should be placed. Otherwise, if it is a heavier utensil, then it cannot be distributed. Furthermore, there are five things that cannot be sold, cannot be carried, are not needed, cannot be distributed, cannot be given to others, and cannot be given to anyone. What are they? They are the property of the monastery, the property of the dwelling, and the property of the Sangha.
