Having come from there, he fled and left. Then, the householder Dalaba (དཔལ་སྦེད་) went to where the sister of the householder Misheng (མེ་སྐྱེས་) was, and upon arriving, he opened the lock and said, "Virtuous woman, come here! Go and prostrate at the feet of the Tathagata." She thought, "This person is deceiving me." So, with compassionate words, she slowly said, "If I am deceived and killed by evil friends, what fear do I have?" The man said, "Virtuous woman, I am telling the truth, not scaring you. Because the Bhagavan was not killed, and now I cannot go to see the Bhagavan, now lead the way." After that, Dalaba's wife felt joy and, with a satisfied mind, took Dalaba to where the Bhagavan was. Upon arriving, she bowed her head at the feet of the Bhagavan and said to the Bhagavan, "Venerable one, please forgive! This householder was deceived by an unwholesome friend, so he did such unwholesome things to the Bhagavan." Then, the Bhagavan extended his elephant-trunk-like arm and said, "Householder, get up, I forgive you. The Tathagata makes no distinction between friends and enemies. The Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, makes no distinction between friends and enemies, treating sandalwood and axes the same." After that, the householder Dalaba felt great joy towards the Tathagata and, with a devoted heart, said to the Bhagavan, "Please rest for a moment, Bhagavan, I will prepare the meal right away." The Bhagavan said, "Householder, when inviting the Tathagata, you already mentioned the time, and Gautama's (གཽ་ཏ་མ་) meal is also ready. Hey, Gautama, know the time! Since you said that, why do you say this now?" He said, "Venerable one, because I saw unwholesome friends, with the three evils of wrong views, I indulged in them, blocked the two paths of all suffering, and came to harm the Bhagavan." The Bhagavan said, "Householder, the Tathagata is free from all harm, why?

It will harm me. "Monk, I have mixed poison into the food and drink, and let them eat those things first." After saying this, the Blessed One said, "Householder, if one can completely vomit out and abandon the poison of desire, the poison of hatred, and the poison of ignorance, then what use is such a vile poison? Bring what you have poisoned!" Then, the Blessed One sat down on the seat that was laid out in front of the Sangha of monks. Having sat down, he said to the Venerable Ananda, "Ananda, go and tell the monks, 'Until the call is made, "Old age has arrived, gather!" let no one eat anything, and close the doors!'" Then, the Venerable Ananda said to the monks, "Venerable ones, the Blessed One has commanded that until the call is made, 'Old age has arrived, gather!' let no one eat anything." Then, the Sangha of monks sat down comfortably, offered food, and through supernatural powers, illusions, and transformations, called out in the house of Palabheda, "Old age has arrived, gather!" And the food and drink also became free of poison. Palabheda, while distributing the food and drink with apprehension, thought, "From the old to the young, now these old and frail monks will surely fall from the sharp poison." From the young, he came again to the old, and again he thought thus. His mind also arose in this way. He thought, "The Blessed One has abandoned the poison of desire, hatred, and ignorance, but not all of the Shravakas have." Thus, when all the monks had finished their meal, not one of them was harmed. Even the children who ate the leftovers were not harmed. Then, the householder Palabheda's faith grew more and more. He and his wife offered food to the Blessed One, and knowing that the Blessed One had taken his bowl and washed his hands, he took a low seat and sat before the Blessed One to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One, knowing the thoughts, habits, faculties, and nature of Palabheda and his wife, revealed the Dharma of the Four Noble Truths, causing them to fully understand.

Such a Dharma was preached. The householder Auspicious Hidden, having heard this, destroyed the twenty peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of entering the stream. Having seen the truth, he spoke three times with joyful words: 'Venerable One, the benefit that the Blessed One has done for me, neither father nor mother has done, nor have enemies, friends, relatives, or retinue done, nor has the king done, nor have the gods done, nor have the former people done, nor have the ascetics and Brahmins done. The Blessed One has dried up my ocean of tears and blood, delivered me from the mountain of bones, closed the door of the lower realms, opened the door of the heavens, and placed me in the realm of gods and humans.' Having said this, he further requested: 'Many are the faults, irredeemable, all the paths leading to evil, by your power they are all cut off. O fortunate one, who has opened the door to go to heaven, I have also attained the path to Nirvana. Having attained reliance on you, free from faults, my eyes are pure and utterly pure, I have attained the four places pleasing to the noble ones, I have crossed the ocean of suffering, beings, gods, demigods, and humans worship. Separated from birth, sickness, old age, and death, even in hundreds of thousands of existences it is extremely difficult to find. Having seen you, the capable one, today I am endowed with fruit. Venerable One, I have crossed over, I have crossed over. Now I take refuge in the Blessed One, the Dharma, and the Sangha of monks. From this day forth, until the end of time, I take refuge with my life as a pledge, and with manifest faith. Please accept me as a lay follower. Venerable One, from this day forth, the door is closed to the heretics, the naked ones, the naked women, and the hearers of the naked ones, and the door is opened to the hearers of the Blessed One, the monks, the nuns, the male lay followers, and the female lay followers.' Then, the Blessed One taught, exhorted, praised, and rejoiced the householder Auspicious Hidden with the words of the Dharma, and then arose from his seat and departed. Then, the Blessed One went to the monastery and sat on the seat that was spread out in the midst of the Sangha of monks. Having sat down, the Blessed One
