Make offerings to the teacher with a beautiful demeanor, this is the fifth verse of the second single-door sutra. In short, proclaiming, hiding objects, making different vehicles, distributing objects and faith, this is what the verses of the sutra say. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. The Bhagavan instructed, 'Hold a grand festival, and widely proclaim the image residing in the shade of the Jambudvipa tree going to the city.' The monks went without informing the Brahmins and householders beforehand. They said, 'Aima, venerable ones, if we had been informed beforehand, we would have prepared the offerings.' The monks reported this to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan instructed, 'Seven or eight days in advance, announce in the cities, markets, streets, roads, and crossroads that a grand festival celebration will be held.' They announced, 'Festival, festival!' The Bhagavan instructed, 'After determining the date, inform everyone that the festival will be held on such and such day.' Even after doing so, the whole world still did not hear. The Bhagavan instructed, 'Write it on paper, place it on the back of a white bull, and announce it in the markets, streets, roads, and crossroads.' On the day when the Bhagavan was holding the grand festival, the Bhagavan instructed, 'The elder monks and the elders should guard the offerings, and the young men should carry them.' As they carried them, they discarded them carelessly, and those who took them without permission stole them. The Bhagavan instructed, 'Appoint a monk to hide the objects.' The method of appointment is as follows: Lay out a mat, strike the ghanta, and appoint a monk who can answer questions and ask questions.
