And, because of doubt, the monks asked the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Monks, it is okay to confess before the forest lord robber, do not doubt it. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. A monk was caught by robbers while wandering, and they said maliciously: What are these bald heads doing, kill them! The monks thought: It seems we are going to be executed. So they said to the robbers: Why are you killing us? The robbers said: You are believed by kings, rich people, merchants, and captains, and if you say something to them, they will harm us for no reason. The monks said: Let us go, we will not say anything. They said: If you swear to gather and recite on the fifteenth of every month, and tell us in detail, we will let you go. At that time, a monk was proficient in the scriptures, and because he was afraid of being killed, he quickly recited the Pratimoksha out of fear. They were very convinced and said: Venerable, do you fully accept and protect all of this? They said: This venerable one is the teaching of the teacher, why not fully accept and protect it? They said: Venerable ones, please leave well and do not say anything to anyone. A healthy monk said: I will not say. After saying that, they came out of the pit and went to the monastery. Because they had doubts and it turned out that way, the monks asked the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Monks, reciting the precepts in front of the forest lord robber is a good recitation, do not doubt it. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Some monks were wandering from a place called Beu, and were caught by robbers, who said: Hey, what are you doing maliciously, kill these bald heads! At that time, a robber knew the details of the monks, he saw them, felt compassion, and released them.

Unable to do it out of compassion, alas, how can these things be killed? (They) tied (me) to the unharvested grass, robbed me of my belongings, dug a pit, and I was suffering from hunger and weakness, about to die. One of them said: Alas, what should we do if we say that? Some said: It is good to do so. Then they robbed him, tied him to the unharvested grass, and dug a pit. A king named Charpo from a place called Be'u, with four divisions of troops, came here to chase after a fleeing deer. They saw those people from afar, and the king asked his minister: Alas, are those sights in the distance not deer? The minister replied: I do not know. The king approached them and saw that they were people. The king said: Alas, are they naked heretics? One of them replied: Yes, the gods are like that. Among those people, someone who knew about the monks said: The gods are not naked heretics, but monks of the Shakya clan. How do you know? One side of the gods is black, and the other side is white. Then the king asked him: Holy one, why are you like this? Gods, we have been robbed by thieves. Holy one, then why are you like this? Gods, we are tied up like this. Holy one, since you are tied up like this, why don't you cut the ropes and run away? Gods, the precepts that the Blessed One has established for us are that if we destroy or instigate the destruction of seeds or the dwellings of living beings, we will break the precepts. We are bound by such precepts. The king, hearing this, both believed and was very pleased, so he untied them and gave each of them three robes. They went to the temple and had doubts: We spoke such words of transgression in front of the king. He told the monks in detail what had happened, and the monks reported it to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: This king is of the Kshatriya caste, has received empowerment from the crown of his head, and is the leader of all worldly people, so what he says is correct, do not doubt him. The beginning of the story is hearing.

While he was there, the venerable Upāli asked the Blessed One Buddha: "Venerable, is it permissible for an offender to confess his offenses in the presence of an offender?" Upāli replied, "It is not permissible." If the things are not in agreement, then it is permissible. The story took place in Shravasti. A certain monk committed a sanghādisesa offense, and he felt remorse. He became pale, thin, and weak, emaciated, and his body did not recover. The monks said to him: "Venerable, why have you become pale, thin, and weak, emaciated, and your body has not recovered? Tell us your illness." He said nothing. Later, a monk who was friendly with him saw him and asked, and he told the monk in detail. That monk said: "Venerable, in that case, you should tell the monks." He said: "If I say that, I am done for." That monk said: "If that is the case, come, let us go to another place and confess those offenses there." He agreed. He and that monk went together to another place, but on the way, that monk passed away. That monk thought: "I went for this purpose, but now he has passed away, what am I going for? I should go back." So he returned. The monks asked him: "Have you returned safely? Venerable, have you returned safely? Did you fare well?" He began to cry. The monks asked him: "Venerable, why are you crying?" He said: "Because the monk who went with me has passed away." They said: "Venerable, why are you crying? All conditioned things are like that by nature." He said: "He passed away while still in offense." The monks said: "He will therefore dwell in hell for a long time, so it is right for you to cry." The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: "Monks, that son of good family has departed from that offense. I have said that offenses are departed from through intention, not through the karma of punishment. Therefore, whatever is so by nature
