The past Buddha declared: A mark should be given to the Sangha. Since the monks did not know how to give a mark, the Blessed One declared: Write, "This was offered by so-and-so monk." The monks wrote in the same way for both the Sangha and individuals. When this happened, the monks informed the Blessed One, and the Blessed One declared: A personal signature should be given. The story took place in Shravasti. The Blessed One declared: Whether it is the Sangha or an individual, do not use a patterned mat until there is no padding. The monks began to make personal patangs (a type of cushion), and some of them said: The Blessed One has permitted what is obtained from patterned materials, but not what is made by oneself. Others said: The made object should be abandoned. When this happened, the monks informed the Blessed One, and the Blessed One declared: Therefore, the Sangha's patang, whether found or made, is acceptable. If it is an individual, it is permissible to hold what is given by others if it is dedicated to the donor himself, but it is not permissible to make it oneself. The Blessed One declared: The Sangha is allowed to possess patterned patangs, whether found or made. If it is an individual, it is permissible to hold what is given by others if it is dedicated to that person. After that, a monk said: I did not make a patterned chair leg, but I can use what was given by others. When this happened, the monks informed the Blessed One, and the Blessed One declared: Monks, I spoke of patterned (things) with that in mind, not patterned chair legs. Therefore, the Sangha may possess patterned chair legs, whether found or made, and it is permitted. But it is not permitted for individuals. The Blessed One declared: Nuns, after emerging from the rainy season retreat, should travel. After entering the rainy season retreat, they did not repair the cracks in the houses, and because they did not repair the cracks, it became unsuitable. When this happened, the monks informed the Blessed One, and the Blessed One declared: Nuns, enter the rainy season retreat

If it is not sewn, it will happen together with death. The fifth verse of the Sutra of the Four Single Doors. In short: There is no giving if one goes and returns. Having given, one returns again. The Sangha should also give. From where was it borrowed? The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. A householder's relative passed away, and for the sake of offering, he led them to the cemetery with banners and flags. Then he brought them back and offered them to the monks, but the monks did not accept them. When this happened, the monks reported it to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan said: Call it gone and returned, accept it! Some people are poor and offer, but then they are despised again, and the monks do not give. The Bhagavan said: If they ask again, give it! After despising it, that person felt regret again, and that person offered it again, but the monks did not accept it. When this happened, the monks reported it to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan said: Call it returned from then on, accept it! Do not be doubtful or angry about it. The story takes place in Shravasti, when a monk in charge of meals borrowed some wealth from a householder for the sake of the Sangha, and then he passed away. Hearing the news of his death, that person came to the monastery and asked: Where is the monk named so-and-so? The monks said: He has passed away. That person said: Holy ones, he borrowed some of my wealth. The monks said: Go and deal with him yourself! He said: It was not taken for the sake of the Sangha, nor for my own sake, please give it! When this happened, the monks reported it to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan said: If you know that he took it for the sake of the Sangha, the Sangha should repay the debt. Monks, I will establish the monastic rules for monks similar to newly ordained monks. When newly ordained monks borrow, they should ask the elder monks.

If it is not done in accordance with the Dharma in which all actions are practiced equally, it will become a transgression. The sixth verse of the Sutra of the Four Doors. In short, sugarcane and monks, eating and distributing are beneficial, not distributing and the fourth, and indicating the stars should not be done. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. The Sangha obtained a sugarcane, and the Blessed One instructed to give one-third to the novice monks, so they gave each of them one-third of the sugarcane. The monks were arranged in order of seniority and became two rows, and again they were arranged in order of seniority. The Venerable Sgra-can-'dzin was sitting in front of the Blessed One, and he was eating a piece of sugarcane, looking at the face of the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Venerable Sgra-can-'dzin, do you want sugarcane? He said: Blessed One, I want it. Then the Blessed One cut off a piece from his own share and gave it to him. The Sangha of monks did the sugarcane business and came to the monastery, and the Venerable Sgra-can-'dzin came to the Blessed One in order to prostrate at the feet of the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Venerable Sgra-can-'dzin, are you satisfied with eating sugarcane? He replied: Blessed One, how can I be satisfied when you instructed us to give one-third of our gains? The Blessed One said: Then are you satisfied now? The Blessed One gathered the Sangha of monks and instructed the monks as follows: I have given the gain of clothing to the novice monks as one-third, but the gain of food should be distributed equally. Even the soil leaves on a small sapling should be distributed equally. If it is distributed in different sizes, it will become a transgression. The origin of the story is in Shravasti, when the householder living in Shravasti went to Jeta Grove from time to time, a monk told him about the seven great merits arising from wealth.
