It should be placed generally for the Sangha. Monks dwell in secluded dwellings, practicing virtue, and the group of six monks come there and say, "We are elders," then drive them away and send them off. The Blessed One instructed, "Do not drive away the monks who are dwelling there on the grounds of seniority. If you drive them away, it becomes a transgression." The monks, having done their work, rise from their seats and walk and sit, and others take the seats and do not give them back, and the monks become flustered. The monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "Having done your work, if you rise from your seat, do not take the seat." The monks sat on the seat for a long time, and then rose and walked, and the group of six monks sat there, and the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "Do not sit there. If you rise and go for a walk, put a Dharma garment or a knee-covering on it." The origin of the story is in Shravasti. The monks came to the temple carrying their bowls, and then one monk, while carrying his bowl, made prostrations, and his bowl was broken. Another monk struck the pillar of the monastery with his shoe, and the monks began to mock, and the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "I will establish a code of conduct for monks entering the path, in accordance with their practice. If a monk entering the path sees water, he should put down his bowl and Dharma garment to one side, and then shake out his clothes and bathe. Then, wash his feet and hands, gather water in a puddle, wipe his shoes with wet mud, then wash his hands underneath, put on his upper and lower garments properly, and enter the temple with peaceful conduct. Otherwise, it will become a transgression." The seventh verse of the Sutra of the Three Solitary Doors. In short: The sharpening of the razor and the trimming of nails, thorns are the support of the feet, the place for excretion and urination, do not retain what has been done. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti.

It begins. The Blessed One instructed, "For the sake of the Sangha, please distribute the razor containers." The group of six monks took the Sangha's razors to do work, but after taking the razors, they said there was still work to be done, so they did not return the razors. When this happened, the monks reported it to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "Do not hold onto the razor after it has been used. If you hold onto it, you will incur a transgression." Just like the razor, so are the whetstone, nail clippers, tweezers, and footstool. Those six monks, after going to the place for urination and doing their business, said that they still needed to go in again, and they did not allow the other monks to enter. When this happened, the monks reported it to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "If a monk has gone to the place for urination and done his business, do not obstruct the other monks. If you obstruct them, you will incur a transgression." It is the same for the place for defecation. This is the eighth verse of the Sutra of the Three Doors. In short: servants and great festivals, turbid water, food made from flour and sour porridge, and gatherings that are proclaimed are also included. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Anathapindika's Grove in Jeta's Grove in Shravasti.
