Write the words "offered clothes" and place them. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. At that time, a severe hailstorm fell in Shravasti, causing many wild animals and birds to die. Many people got up early in the morning and collected and took away all the wild animals and birds that could be eaten. Those that could not be eaten, such as crows, were discarded. The group of six monks ate a lot because of the abundance of food and slept for a long time. After they had slept for a long time, it dawned, and as soon as they heard the news, they quickly ran out and took crows, owls, vultures, and water birds, etc., and brought them back. Brahmins and householders saw them and said, "What are these holy ones going to do?" They replied, "Eat." Then they said, "These holy ones have discarded what cannot be eaten, and if they find others, they will take them. Why don't they eat this?" The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "Monks, do not eat the meat of crows and other inedible meats. If you eat it, you will commit a transgression." The fourth verse of the first chapter of the Single Entrance Sutra ends. In short: dogs, eagles, owls, and birds that eat human flesh, horses, mules, foxes, and monkeys should not be eaten. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. A famine occurred, and the residents began to eat dog meat. The group of six monks went to Shravasti to beg for food. Wherever they went, they said, "Holy ones, there is nothing at all." Then they went to another house and saw dog meat being cooked in a pot. The householder's wife said, "Holy ones, there is nothing at all, please leave." They asked, "What is being cooked in the pot?" The reply was, "Holy ones, this is dog meat. Do you eat dog meat?" The reply was, "Holy ones, because there is a famine, we eat it." "If that is the case, give us some too." "Holy ones, do you also eat it?" "Yes, our lives depend on you. If you eat it, why shouldn't we eat it?" They gave it to them. After receiving it, they took it and left. The dogs smelled the scent and surrounded them.

Furthermore. Brahmins and householders saw some people being chased by dogs with their own voices, following them as if outside, and they said: Venerable ones, why are you walking around being harassed by dogs? They said: We have obtained some dog meat by begging. Venerable ones, do you eat dog meat? Alas, if it is difficult to obtain alms like this, wouldn't we starve to death? The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought: Monks eating dog meat is a cause for offense. Therefore, monks, do not eat dog meat! If monks eat dog meat, they will commit a transgression. The incident occurred in Shravasti. The group of six monks ate the meat of eagles, owls, and man-eating birds. Unbelieving Brahmins and householders ridiculed them. The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: Monks, do not eat the meat of eagles, owls, and man-eating birds! If monks eat the meat of eagles, owls, and man-eating birds, they will commit a transgression. The incident occurred in Shravasti. Those who take what is not given stole a mule belonging to King Pasenadi of Kosala, took it to a dense forest, killed it, took the meat, and threw away the head and hooves. The group of six monks, accustomed to the Dharma, woke up early in the morning, went to the roof, looked in all four directions, and went to where the smoke was thickest and where the vultures were circling. They saw vultures circling in the dense forest. They ran into the dense forest and hurried there. In the dense forest, they saw the mule's head, legs, and tail. They said: Friend, if we find something nearly perfect covered in dust, should we take it? They replied: Very well, take it. So they gathered those things together. The mule drivers searched everywhere and saw them, and said: Venerable ones, you hold the marks of a renunciate, why do you do evil deeds? What offense have we committed? They replied: You killed the king's mule. May the sin be pacified.
