Do not appoint to tasks, stop! The Blessed One said, "For those reasons established by the Blessed One, do not appoint to tasks." The monks did not understand who should be appointed, so the Blessed One taught, "Those who uphold the Sutra Pitaka, those who uphold the Vinaya Pitaka, those who uphold the Matrika, those who preach extensively, and the elders of the Sangha, are suitable to be appointed." Among them, those who uphold the Sutra Pitaka are those very ones. Similarly, those who uphold the Vinaya Pitaka, those who uphold the Matrika, those who preach to many, and the elders of the Sangha are also those very ones. The Blessed One said, "Those who uphold the Sutra Pitaka, those who uphold the Vinaya Pitaka, and those who uphold the Matrika, are those very ones." The group of six monks, after reciting one or two chapters of the Sutras, said, "We are upholders of the Sutra Pitaka, so do not assign us to the rotation of tasks." The monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught, "Whoever upholds all the Sutra Pitaka is an upholder of the Sutra Pitaka; such a person should not be appointed to tasks." Similarly, those who have committed one or two Parajikas said, "We are also upholders of the Vinaya Pitaka." Similarly, after reciting two treatises, they also said, "I am an upholder of the Matrika, so do not assign me to the rotation of tasks." After the monks reported this to the Blessed One, the Blessed One taught, "Whoever upholds all the Vinaya Pitaka and whoever upholds all the Matrika should not be appointed to tasks." The origin of the story is when the Buddha was in Shravasti. At that time, King Pasenadi of Kosala attacked a rocky mountain village, sending an army, but those armies were defeated and returned. Similarly, they sent troops two or three times, but they were defeated and returned. The ministers reported, "Great King, the power of the rocky mountain village is too great, and the Great King's power is declining. If the Great King himself goes, then the rocky mountain village will eventually be conquered, but others cannot do it." The king said, "All those in my country who live by the power of weapons should not be left behind; all should depart!" Then a great घोषणा(藏文:དྲིལ་ཆེན་པོ།,梵文天城体:घोष,梵文罗马拟音:ghoṣa,汉语字面意思:宣告) was proclaimed. After that, the king, together with a powerful army, arrived at that town and surrounded all places. However,

They did not come relying on the dense forest, and the minister said, 'This god-like householder Anathapindika is extremely rich in merit and is fully protected by the gods. If he is here, he will not encounter any misfortune, but will go to the village in the rocky mountains.' Then, the king treated the householder Anathapindika very well and sent a letter saying, 'Householder, I want to see you.' As soon as he heard the letter, he hurried to that village in the rocky mountains. However, before reaching that village, the householder Anathapindika was delayed for a long time. Because he had not seen the monks, he was pale, thin, and without energy. The king saw him and asked, 'Householder, do you miss your children?' He replied, 'God, I do not miss my children, but it is for the sake of seeing the noble ones.' The king said to the ministers, 'Have you not heard what I said? In any case, find a way to bring the noble ones here.' So he sent a letter. The ministers read the letter and began to discuss, saying, 'Alas, what should we do?' Another old minister said, 'If that is the case, I will think of a way to make everyone happy.' So, near the gate of Jeta Grove, there was a garden called Arda Brahma's Gift, which had been abandoned and had become a garden like an arrow. He repaired it well. From the pure land of the stupa to that garden, he dug a canal and measured it with a thread. By doing this, there will be no harm, and the gods will watch and go there.' Then, they began to repair that abandoned garden. 'If we measure with a thread in the center of the hair and nail stupa, we will dig a canal along this thread.' The monks who lived in the monastery and those who went out during the day gathered together and came to that minister and said, 'Sage, what are you doing?' The minister replied, 'The noble ones wrote to us saying, 'Repair my father's old garden, and I will go there.' So we are cleaning this place and digging a canal to draw water.' Do you
