It is said: The burning wheel fiercely burns, harming my life, for how many thousands of years will it spin in my mind? That person said: For sixty thousand years and one hundred years, the burning iron wheel will also be placed on your head. Then, the daughter named Friendly said to that person: Hey, sir, will others also come here? That person said: Those who have done such deeds will come here. Then, the daughter named Friendly, being visibly tormented by suffering, and generating compassion for sentient beings, said this to that person: Hey, sir, for the sake of all sentient beings, I endure this wheel on my head. May others who have done such deeds not come here. As soon as she said this, the wheel from the head of the Bodhisattva daughter named Friendly rose into the sky as high as seven palm trees, and then, she also passed away and was born in the Tushita heaven. The Blessed One said this. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the daughter named Friendly was myself. At that time, I did business and gave Karshapana Ma, the maturation of that karma caused me to experience great happiness in four great cities. Then, I did a little harm to Ma, the ripening of the fruit of that karma caused me to experience suffering like this. Therefore, monks, train yourselves in this way. One should benefit one's father and mother, do not harm them, and you will not experience such harm, just as the daughter named Friendly experienced in her respective lives. Merit will also increase, and that is also the Tathagata. Monks, train yourselves in this way. Monks, therefore, even if the discipline is completely ruined, it is permitted to serve five types of people. What are the five? Father, mother, preceptor, teacher, and the sick. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. The Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, the sun has risen, the crows are cawing, the farmers are plowing, nothing is left out.

Those who steal everything are thieves. Monks, this is a metaphor. Because the meaning is not understood, that meaning should also be shown. Monks, the so-called rising of the sun is the special term for the Tathagata, the perfectly complete Buddha. The so-called crow calling is the special term for the individuals who are vessels of the Dharma. The so-called farmer plowing the field is the special term for the givers and the patrons. The so-called stealing everything are thieves is the special term for the retinue of Mara. Therefore, monks, the teacher, with compassion, shows the meaning of compassion to the listeners, with the intention of benefiting, with compassion, has done this for you, you should do it now. Like this, in monasteries and under trees and in empty houses and in mountains and in valleys and in mountain caves and in piles of grass and in places without shelter and in cemeteries and in the edges of forests and in remote places, one should dwell. Monks, do not be heedless, lest you regret it later. This Dharma that I have taught, I have taught accordingly. The Blessed One taught that dwelling in monasteries will lead to regret later. This is what I have taught, as it is taught, just like before. Monks, dwell in monasteries and in the edges of forests and in remote places, and enter into meditation. When in Shravasti, another patron built houses in the monastery for the monks dwelling in the monastery. After some time, another beggar used the bedding and went to Shravasti, and then returned to live in the house. Then one day, his hair and beard became very long, and in the morning he put on his skirt, took his bowl and Dharma robes, and went out. That patron said to him: Venerable, your hair and beard are very long. He said: Yes, there is no one to shave me. The patron said: Venerable, if that is the case, please stay, and I will send someone to shave you. After he finished begging, he went back, and the patron also sent someone to shave him. That beggar was very lazy, sitting on the cushion while shaving his head, and his hair also fell on the cushion, and eventually

Could not throw it away. That householder thought: "Barber, you go and see if that monk's hair and beard have been shaved or not," and he went there. After going, he sat on the cushion, and the hairs stuck to his clothes, and that householder was satisfied with that almsman, and then went back home, and his wife said: "Lord's son, why are you sitting in the barber's house?" Seeing the hair stuck to his clothes, he thought: "That almsman is sitting on the cushion, and his hair is not shaved clean, I want to go and see." Thinking this, he went there and saw that his cushion was full of hair, and he scolded: "Venerable one, sitting on the cushion, don't you even know how to shave your hair?" That almsman felt ashamed and embarrassed, and said nothing. After such a thing happened, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught: "Monks, it is reasonable for those householders to laugh, therefore monks should not shave their hair while sitting on the cushion." After the Blessed One taught that monks should not shave their hair while sitting on the cushion, the monks shaved their hair in the dwelling, open space, and gatehouse, and that became an object of blame, and the Blessed One taught: "Wherever the Sangha sweeps, do not shave your hair there, if you shave it, you will commit a transgression." After the Blessed One said that wherever the Sangha sweeps, do not shave your hair there, some monks became old and frail, and emaciated, some monks became sick, and could not go outside, and the monks who were not sick encountered heat and rain, and they could not go out either, and suffered harm. After such a thing happened, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught: "Those monks who are old and frail, and emaciated, and sick and uncomfortable, should shave their hair in the place where they shaved their hair before. Monks who are not sick encounter heat and rain, and it is inconvenient to go outside, then shave their hair in the place where they shaved their hair before. Everywhere is fine."
