After those monks worked in that way, the fruits grew and ripened. When some monks suddenly arrived, after they saw those fruits that had grown and ripened, they said to the venerable ones: If we could also eat the ripe mangoes, would we also be entitled? The monks said: If we had allocated them before, where would there be any to eat? They were ridiculed. The monks reported what had happened to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Also give some to those who come suddenly. After the monks gave the remainder of what had been allocated, the Blessed One said: Monks, these four things are not to be allocated. Which four? Namely: what is owned by all the Sangha of the four directions, what is owned by all the stupas, what is suitable for all the sick, and all food that is continuously valuable. The origin of the story is in Shravasti: When monks were distributing flowers, fruits, food, and other edibles and drinks, they pointed with their fingers and said, "Give this, give those." When they had all eaten, the distribution became uneven, and some monks who had not abandoned their desire complained. The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Monks, rebuking is appropriate. Therefore, a monk should not point with his finger and say, "Give this, give those" to eat. If a monk points with his finger and says, "Give this, give those" to eat, it will constitute a transgression. The reason for not having a drink is because one wants to cook it with a small fire, or because one wants to cook it without it being cooked with a large fire. The origin of the story is in Shravasti: When the group of six were traveling, they came to a monastery in another rocky village. The monks there had gone out for their daytime activities, and the monastery was empty. Nanda and Upananda of the group of six thought, "This empty and undefined monastery is mine."
