Then he ordered: "For the owners of the property, alms shall be given from my own storehouse and treasury." At that time, all the thieves who lived in the land of Manyamkada and those who lived in the land of Kosala gathered at the border between the two lands. The thieves who lived in the land of Manyamkada and those who lived in the land of Kosala all gathered at the border, and the sound of "many guests have gathered" spread everywhere. When they heard this, many guests from the land of Manyamkada, together with goods, went to the land of Kosala. Guests from the land of Kosala also went to the land of Manyamkada in the same way. After a long time, many guests from the land of Manyamkada, together with goods, went to the land of Kosala. When they crossed the border and entered the land of Kosala, the leader said: "It is said that King Pasenadi of Kosala is an untamed, violent, and angry person, brave and powerful. Even if he robs many guests and us, he can endure it. Let's carry those goods back." Many guests said: "If that is the case, let's do it that way." After saying that, they carried those goods back. The thieves set up sentry posts to guard, and the sentry saw that the goods had returned, and said: "Hey, the carriers of goods have returned, let's rob those guests." After saying that, those guests went to the Sala tree forest and were robbed. Some of the merchants were killed, and some fled. Those who fled, with their heads covered in dust, ran to King Pasenadi and said: "Your Majesty, we are merchants, but when we came to your country, we were no longer like merchants. What should we do? Your Majesty, we have been robbed by thieves." King Pasenadi ordered Holy Birth: "Young man, go quickly and seize the thieves and the property and bring them back." Holy Birth said: "Your Majesty, I will do so." Then, the army commander Holy Birth, having heard the order of King Pasenadi of Kosala, led the four divisions of the army, namely the elephant corps, the cavalry, the chariot corps, and the infantry, wearing armor, and quickly went to the Sala tree forest.

I. The thieves entered the dense sal tree forest in that hermitage and sat leisurely dividing the loot. Aryasena trampled upon them, and they (Aryasena) killed some of the thieves, some fled, and some were captured alive. Then, (Aryasena) won the battle against the thieves, and taking the thieves and the plundered goods, went to the king, knelt at his feet and said, "O god, these are the thieves' goods." The king said to the merchants, "Hey, identify which of these are your own goods and take them back." At that time, the heretical wanderers and the monks were also included in the plundered group, and the king returned all the plundered goods to them. The wanderers dyed their own clothes in the dye vat, and the monks also took (the dyed clothes). The monks did not recognize that our own clothes had been dyed in the dye vat, and a quarrel arose with those wanderers. Many wanderers took those (clothes) and went to the king and said, "O god, our clothes that were dyed in the dye vat have been taken by the heretical wanderers and they will not return them." The king summoned those heretical wanderers and ordered, "Why did you take the clothes of the Aryas (saints), return them!" They said, "O god, these clothes dyed in the dye vat are ours." The king said, "Saints, identify which are yours and take them." The monks took them out one by one and looked at them, and recognized some, saying, "O god, these are our clothes." The king said to the heretical wanderers, "Alas, heretical wanderers, isn't secretly stealing things being a thief? You are great thieves!" They were speechless and could not say a word. The king said, "Saints, from now on, you should mark the Dharma robes." The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "Monks, what the king said is correct, therefore, the Dharma robes should have marks!" End.

Sew me a lower garment! Also bring a needle! The Blessed One said, "Please obtain an excellent name!" The monks did not understand, so the Blessed One instructed: "Make a dot of ink on the edge of the Dharma robe!" The origin of this story is that in Shravasti, another householder took a concubine from the same clan and enjoyed playing and having fun with her. While enjoying playing and having fun with her, after some time, the concubine became pregnant. After eight or nine months had passed, she gave birth to a boy, and a grand birth celebration was held for twenty-one days. A name was given to the child according to the family custom, and he was raised and grew up. Later, his biological mother passed away. That householder also took a concubine and enjoyed playing and having fun with her. After enjoying playing and having fun, after some time, three sons were born, and they were also named according to the family custom. Like this, among enemies, the fighting was very intense. The stepmother always abused the eldest son who had not died. He did not remember his mother, felt weary, and left his homeland, ordaining in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya. Then, after some time, that householder became ill. He was treated with medicines made from roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits, but his illness did not improve. Knowing that he would not live long due to the suffering of illness, he gathered his neighbors, and gathering together, he said to his sons: "Sons, your elder brother has ordained among the sons of Shakyamuni Buddha, you should also give him a share of the property." Accumulation will eventually be exhausted, the end of height is falling, the end of gathering is separation, and the end of Dharma is peace. He was endowed with the Dharma of the times. His son, who was enjoying the countryside, heard that his father had passed away. He thought to himself: "I should go back to comfort my mother and brothers' grief and go to teach the Dharma." Thinking this, while feeling happy, he enjoyed the countryside and returned to where Shravasti was.
