When asked why he had become like that, he said, "It is because I harmed my mother." As soon as the man said that, the karma of the beautiful maiden also ripened, and she thought, "I too harmed my mother, and that karma brought me here." As soon as she thought that, a voice immediately came from the sky saying, "Whoever is bound is liberated, and whoever is not bound is bound." As soon as the voice appeared, the wheel on the man's head disappeared, and a wheel appeared on the beautiful maiden's head. Then, the man saw the beautiful maiden in great pain and said in verse: Always joyful and proud, Having abandoned the doing of happiness, From the abode of the Brahma guru, Why have you come here? The beautiful maiden said: Always joyful and proud, Having abandoned the doing of happiness, From the abode of the Brahma guru, Wishing to come here, Driven by long-lasting karma. Having been driven by karma for a long time, In the place where karma drives, Karma also fully ripens. After karma fully ripens, The burning and extremely burning wheel, Harming my life, A burning wheel appears on my head. The man said: You generated evil thoughts, Towards the head of your hardworking mother, You kicked with your feet, That is the result of that karma. The beautiful maiden said: The burning and extremely burning wheel, Harming my life, For how many thousands of years, Will it spin on my head? The man said: For sixty thousand years, And between one hundred years, The burning iron wheel, Will also be placed on your head. Then, the beautiful maiden said to the man, "Please, will others come here as well?" The man said, "Whoever has done such karma will come here." Then, the beautiful maiden, being visibly tormented by suffering, generated compassion for all beings and said to the man, "Please, for the sake of all beings, I will endure this wheel on my head.

After saying, 'Those bad deeds, don't come here again,' the wheel on the head of that Bodhisattva daughter named Mitra, rose into the sky as high as seven palm trees. After that, she passed away and was born in the Tushita heaven. The Blessed One spoke thus. Monks, what do you think? At that time, the daughter named Mitra was myself. At that time, I did business and gave Karshapana Mala, and due to the maturation of that action, I experienced great happiness in four great cities. After that, I did a little harm to Mala, and due to the maturation of the result of that action, I suffered such pain. Therefore, monks, you should train in this way. You should benefit your father and mother, and do not harm them, and you will not suffer such harm, just as the daughter Mitra suffered in her respective lives. It will also become many merits, and that is also the Tathagata. Monks, you should train in this way. Monks, therefore, even if the precepts are completely broken, it is permitted to serve five types of people. What are the five? Father, mother, Khenpo, Acharya, and the sick. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. The Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, the sun has risen, the crows are calling, the farmers are plowing, and all the thieves are gone. Monks, this is a metaphor. Because you do not understand that meaning, that meaning must also be explained. Monks, the meaning of 'the sun has risen' is the term for the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha. The meaning of 'the crows are calling' is the term for the people who are vessels of the Dharma. The meaning of 'the farmers are plowing' is the term for the givers and patrons. The meaning of 'all the thieves are gone' is the term for the retinue of Mara. Therefore, monks, the teacher, out of love for the Shravakas, teaches the meaning of compassion, considering the benefit, because it is like compassion, so he has done things for you, and you should now do what is appropriate. Like this, in temples and under trees.

Empty houses, mountains, valleys, caves, piles of grass, places without roofs, cemeteries, the sides of forests, and remote places should be dwelt in. Monks, do not be heedless! You will regret it later. This teaching of mine is what I have taught accordingly. The Blessed One taught that one should dwell in solitude, lest one regret it later. This is what I have taught, and so on, as before. Monks, dwelling in solitude, in the sides of forests, and in remote places, they engage in meditation. While in Shravasti, another householder built a house in a secluded place for the monks who dwelt in solitude. After some time, another almsman enjoyed the garden and went to Shravasti, and then returned home to live. One day, his hair and beard grew long, and in the early morning, he put on his lower garment, took his bowl and robes, and went out. The householder said to him, "Venerable, your hair and beard are long." He said, "Yes, there is no barber." The householder said, "Venerable, in that case, please wait a moment, and I will send for a barber." He went begging for alms and then returned, and the householder sent for a barber. That almsman was very lazy. He sat on the mat and had his hair cut, and the hair fell on the mat, and he could not clean it up. The householder thought, "Barber, go and see if that monk's hair and beard have been cut or not." So he went there. He went and sat on the mat, and the hair stuck to his clothes, and the householder was pleased with the almsman and went back home. His wife said, "Master, have you been staying at the barber's house?" He saw that his clothes were covered with hair and thought, "That almsman is sitting on the mat, hasn't he had his hair cut?" He thought he would go and see, so he went there and looked. He saw that the mat was full of hair and said, "Venerable, don't you even know not to cut hair on the mat?"
