If a monk, having been admonished by the admonisher of the Sangha, disobeys and does not listen by means of a messenger, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Similarly, if he disobeys and does not listen by means of a letter, a gesture, another's words, or passing from one to another, all of them will result in a misdeed. Monks, if a monk, having been admonished by the admonisher of the Sangha, disobeys and does not listen to the admonishment of a madman, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Similarly, if he disobeys and does not listen to the admonishment of those who are mentally disturbed, afflicted by illness, foolish, mute, or deaf, all of them will result in a misdeed. Monks, if a monk, having been admonished by the admonisher of the Sangha, falls asleep and does not listen, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Similarly, if he does not listen to those who are drunk, intoxicated, or in meditative absorption, all of them will result in a misdeed.
