He commits an offense. If someone from the border region, using the language of the noble ones, entrusts it to a monk and then departs, and that monk does not understand the language of the noble ones, what happens? He commits an offense. Venerable, if a monk, having spread out the monastic bedding, entrusts it with the intention of the body to a place where there are monks and then departs, what happens? He commits an offense. Venerable, if a monk, having spread out the monastic bedding, perceives a solitary place as non-solitary and entrusts it and then departs, what happens? He commits an offense. Venerable, if a monk, having spread out the monastic bedding, does not entrust it to a place where there are monks, but entrusts it to a householder and then departs, what happens? He commits an offense. Similarly, food and, an expelled nun and, a father and, a mother and, killing an Arhat and, with malicious intent causing a Tathagata to bleed and, a heretic and, one who has become a heretic and, a place of thieves and, one who does not abide and, one who abides separately and, one who has previously committed an offense and, one who has previously quarreled, if he entrusts it to them and then departs, what happens? He commits an offense. Venerable, if a monk creates dissension in the Sangha and, approaches (the dissenters) and, gives precepts, if he entrusts it to them and then departs, what happens? He commits an offense. Venerable, if a monk, having spread out the monastic bedding, does not put it away, and even though there are monks present, he does not entrust it, even if a nearby person dies, will he not commit an offense? Upali, there is. That is, if that monk has gone without abandoning that bedding, and if any one of the eight obstacles has occurred in that monastery. In short, madness, mental disturbance, illness and, deafness, foolishness, sleep and, drunkenness and intoxication and, absorption, and going to the end. Being mentally disturbed, afflicted by illness, foolish, mute, deaf, drowsy, drunk, insane, and those in other states, if entrusting to them and departing, what happens? A minor offense is committed. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu entrusts to a bhikshuni and departs, what happens? A minor offense is committed. Bhikshuni, shramanerika, shramera, if entrusting to them and departing, what happens? A minor offense is committed. Bhikshu, if a bhikshuni entrusts to a sikshamana, shramanerika, shramera, what happens? A minor offense is committed. Bhikshu, if the one who bestows precepts lays out the sangha's bedding, and without entrusting it while the bhikshuni is present, departs, what happens? A downfall is committed. For the sikshamana, shramanerika, shramera, a minor offense is committed. Regarding the bedding, just as with the spread, it should also be elaborated. A minor offense is committed. Likewise, expelling or ordering the expulsion of those who are mentally disturbed, afflicted by illness, foolish, mute, deaf, drowsy, drunk, insane, those in meditative absorption, and those in other states, what happens?
