What will happen? It will be abandoned. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu excessively begs from a householder's home, and that householder's home also has a child born after changing its name, and he begs from it, what will happen? It will be abandoned. The same applies to bhikshunis. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu begs from a weaver four times, five times, or six times to obtain cloth, and begs further for the purpose of obtaining cloth, and the cloth is manifestly completed, what will happen? He commits a transgression. Similarly, all hermaphrodites will also commit transgressions. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu excessively begs for the sake of bhikshus, bhikshunis, shikshamanas, shramaneras, and shramanerikas, what will happen? He commits a transgression. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu excessively begs for other items besides these, what will happen? He commits a transgression. Bhikshu, if someone who has received precepts begs more than six times, what will happen? It will be abandoned. If a bhikshuni begs, what will happen? It will be abandoned. For shikshamanas, shramanerikas, and shramaneras, a transgression will be committed. In short: Sending messages, writing letters, and gestures, the words of others and passing them on, becoming mad, mentally disturbed, being sick, deaf, and foolish. Bhikshu, if a bhikshu requests a seat cushion through a message, what will happen? He commits a transgression. Similarly, writing letters, gestures, the words of others, passing them on from one to another, madness, mental disturbance, being afflicted by illness, deafness, dumbness, blindness, and foolishness—all of these are transgressions. Just as a bhikshu who has a seat cushion made from silk commits an offense of abandonment, so too does giving instruction commit an offense of abandonment. For bhikshunis, shikshamanas, shramanerikas, and shramaneras, a transgression is committed.
