"If the admonition does not enter the ear, one will fall." Having said that, Bhikshu, if a Bhikshu, having been admonished by the steward of the Sangha, refutes it with a message and does not listen, what will happen? It is a minor offense. Similarly, if it is a letter, a gesture, what another says, or transmitted from one to another and then refuted and not listened to, all of that will become a minor offense. Bhikshu, if a Bhikshu does not listen to the admonition of a mad steward of the Sangha, what will happen? It is a minor offense. Similarly, if it is the admonition of those who are mentally disturbed, afflicted by illness, foolish, mute, and deaf, and they refute it and do not listen, all of that will become a minor offense. Bhikshu, if a Bhikshu falls asleep while being admonished by the steward of the Sangha and does not listen, what will happen? It is a minor offense. Similarly, if one does not listen while drunk, intoxicated, or in meditative absorption, all of that will become a minor offense. Bhikshu, if a Bhikshu does not listen to the admonition of the steward of the Sangha who resides in another place, what will happen?
