In short, is there intercourse with a madwoman, or one whose mind is disturbed, or one who is sick, or one who is deaf, or one who is foolish, or one who is asleep, or one who is deranged, or one who is intoxicated, or a bhikṣuṇī? The venerable Upāli asked the Blessed One, "Venerable one, if a bhikṣu speaks words of abuse to a madwoman, what happens? It becomes a sthūlātyaya. The same applies to one whose mind is disturbed, or one who is afflicted by illness, or one who is deaf, or one who is foolish, Or one who is asleep, or one who is deranged, or one who is intoxicated. Venerable one, if a bhikṣu speaks words of abuse to a woman and her sex changes and she becomes a bhikṣuṇī, what happens? It becomes a sthūlātyaya.
