If someone sends the price of a robe, saying, "Venerable one, please accept these for the sake of compassion," then that bhikshu should say to the messenger, "Venerable messenger, bhikshus are not allowed to accept the price of robes. We can only accept robes if we can obtain suitable robes at the right time." If that messenger says to the bhikshu, "Venerable ones, is there anyone who is responsible for handling the affairs of the venerable ones and who can accept the instructions of the venerable ones?" The bhikshu who wants a robe should say, "Messenger, this one is responsible for handling the affairs of the bhikshus, and this one can accept the instructions of the bhikshus." The steward of the monastery or the lay devotee who handles affairs should be indicated. Then, that messenger, taking those robe prices, goes to the one who handles affairs, and having arrived, says to the one who handles affairs, "Venerable one who handles affairs, please know that you should use these robe prices to buy such and such a robe, and when the bhikshu named so-and-so comes, put a suitable robe on him at the right time." After saying this, that messenger instructs and indicates to that one who handles affairs very well and very correctly, and then goes to that bhikshu, and having arrived, says to that bhikshu, "Venerable one, I have correctly indicated the one who handles affairs that you indicated. Please go to him, and he will put a suitable robe on you at the right time." If the bhikshu wants a robe, he goes to the one who handles affairs, and says to the venerable one who handles affairs, "I want a robe, venerable one who handles affairs, I want a robe." He should urge him two or three times, and remind him. Having urged and reminded him two or three times, if the robe is completed, that is good. If it is not completed, he should remain silent, waiting four, five, or six times. Having remained silent, waiting four, five, or six times, if the robe is completed, that is good. If it is not completed, after that, striving to complete the robe, if the robe is completed, he will commit a nissaṅghiya pācittiya offense. If it is not completed,
