Monks, if a monk has a robe woven by a mad weaver, and the robe is completed, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Similarly, if a weaver who is distracted, afflicted by feelings, deaf, stupid, or living in another place, who is not a relative, is asked to weave a robe, and the robe is completed, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Summary: Eunuchs, food itself, likewise common gender, unsuitable and the seven categories, the four categories of trainees and nuns. Monks, if a monk has a robe woven by a eunuch weaver (who is not a relative), and the robe is completed, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Monks, if a monk has a robe woven by a weaver who is not a relative, and as a result, the weaver changes sex and becomes a nun and obtains the robe, what happens? He commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Monks, if a nun has a robe woven by a weaver who is not a relative, and as a result, the weaver changes sex and becomes a monk and obtains the robe, what happens? She commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. Monks, is there a case where a monk has a robe woven by a weaver who is not a relative, and even if the robe is completed, he does not commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense? Venerable Ananda, yes, there is. It is like this: the type of that robe is permissible, but the material is not permissible; or the material is permissible, but the type is not permissible; or neither is permissible. What is not permissible is: dog hair mixed with wool, cow hair, animal hair, goat hair, having a non-relative weaver weave it, and when the robe is completed, he commits a misdeed.
