If householders without wives act as matchmakers, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. Bhikshu, if one temporarily acts as a matchmaker for those who are pregnant, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. Bhikshu, if one temporarily acts as a matchmaker for prostitutes, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. If one acts as a matchmaker for female hermaphrodites, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. Bhikshu, a householder comes to the presence of all the assembled Sangha and says this: "Venerable ones, with my words, say this to a certain householder: 'Give your daughter, sister, niece, or granddaughter to my son.'" If the Sangha accepts and delivers the message, and then replies, what will happen to the entire Sangha? The entire Sangha will incur a Sanghavasesa offense. Or, if one bhikshu delivers and replies with the message of the entire Sangha, what will happen to the entire Sangha? The entire Sangha will incur a Sanghavasesa offense. Or, if one bhikshu delivers and replies with his own words, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. If bhikshunis and other practitioners who abide in the conduct of celibacy act as matchmakers, what will happen? A grave offense will be committed. Just as a bhikshu acting as an intermediary becomes a sanghavasesa, giving the training and to a bhikshuni also becomes a sanghavasesa. For a female novice, a male novice, and a siksamana, a misdeed is committed. Summary: The three foundations and the immeasurable, oneself and others and the uncovered, the descent and the set of seven, and the name is the last. Venerable one, if a bhikshu requests to build a house without giving the foundation, what will it become? It will become a grave offense. After requesting the foundation, if he requests to build a house, what will it become? He will commit a misdeed. After giving permission for the house, if he does not build the house, what will it become? He will commit a misdeed. If he starts building and then abandons it, what will it become? It will become a grave offense. If he thinks that someone else abandoned it, what will it become? It will become a grave offense. If he requests to build an uncovered one, what will it become?
