Ma pa and so on, as well as, likewise common names and, impermissible and improper indeed, the four categories are the last. Venerable one, if a bhikshu gives robes to a householder and then takes them back or instigates taking them back, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Similarly, to one who has vowed to be a meat-eating bhikshu, as well as, a hermaphrodite, as well as, a bhikshuni who has been expelled, as well as, a matricide, as well as, a patricide, as well as, a murderer of an arhat, as well as, a heretic, as well as, one who has entered heresy, as well as, one who dwells in a state of theft, as well as, one who was initially discordant, as well as, one who has previously committed a transgression, giving robes and then taking them back or instigating taking them back, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Venerable one, if a bhikshu gives robes to a bhikshu who has caused a schism in the sangha and then takes them back or instigates taking them back, what happens? He commits a nissaggiya pacittiya. Similarly, to one who maliciously draws blood from the Tathagata, as well as, one who dwells separately, as well as, one who gives precepts, giving robes and then taking them back or instigating taking them back, what happens? He commits a nissaggiya pacittiya. Venerable one, if a bhikshu gives robes to a bhikshuni, as well as, a sramanera, as well as, a sramanerika and then takes them back or instigates taking them back, what happens? He commits a misdeed. If a monk gives robes and then snatches them away, and if he changes his gender and becomes a nun and is accomplished, what happens? He commits a transgression, venerable one. If a nun gives robes to a nun and then snatches them away, and if she changes her gender and becomes a monk, what happens? She commits a transgression. Venerable one. If a monk gives a monk a robe smaller than one cubit and then snatches it away, or allows it to be snatched away, what happens? He commits a transgression. Venerable one. Is there a case where a monk gives a robe to a monk and then snatches it away, but it does not become an offense of expiation? Near Attendant. There is. Like this, the threads of that robe are acceptable, but the material is not; the threads are not acceptable, but the material is; or both are not acceptable. What is not acceptable is mixed with goat hair, cow hair, wild animal hair, or sheep's wool, or is unspun. If such a robe is given and then snatched away, or allowed to be snatched away, what happens? He commits a transgression. Venerable one. If a monk, thinking that someone is fully ordained, gives robes to that fully ordained person and then snatches them away, or allows them to be snatched away, what happens? It becomes an offense of expiation. If, thinking that someone is not fully ordained, he gives to that fully ordained person and then snatches them away, or allows them to be snatched away, what happens? He commits a transgression. If, thinking that someone is fully ordained, he gives to that not fully ordained person and then snatches them away, or allows them to be snatched away, what happens? He commits a transgression.
