So, the intermediate one, is explained in detail as before. He said, 'What does Jivaka (དབྱར་བྱེད་) say? Has the Blessed One passed into complete nirvana?' After saying this, he remained silent. Then, King Ajatashatru (མ་སྐྱེས་དགྲ་) fainted and fell to the ground. Jivaka (དབྱར་བྱེད་) placed him in a long trough filled with ghee for seven times. Then, he was taken out and placed in a long trough filled with sandalwood Gośīrṣa, and he revived. As soon as the Buddha Bhagavan passed into nirvana, in the grove of two Sala trees, from the supreme Sala trees, flowers were scattered, and the Bhagavan lay there like a lion. At that time, another monk spoke in verse: The two Sala trees are very beautiful, In this grove of supreme trees, When the Teacher passes into nirvana, Flowers are scattered all around. As soon as the Buddha Bhagavan passed into nirvana, the lord of the gods, Indra, spoke in verse: Alas! All conditioned things are impermanent, They are of the nature of arising and ceasing. Having arisen, they cease, Their pacification is bliss. As soon as the Buddha Bhagavan passed into nirvana, Brahma, the lord of the Sahā world, spoke in verse: All beings in this world, Have an end to accumulation. This world is subject to change, A person without equal in this world, The Tathagata, who has attained all powers, The one with eyes, Such a teacher has also passed into complete nirvana. As soon as the Buddha Bhagavan passed into complete nirvana, the venerable Mahākāśyapa spoke in verse: Protecting with a steadfast mind, Having attained the unmoving peace, With the exhalation and inhalation ceased, The one with eyes has passed into complete nirvana. Possessing all supreme qualities, When the Teacher passed away, At that time, there was great terror, At that time, even the hairs stood on end. With a fearless mind, He remained especially in the feelings, His mind was liberated, Such a lamp has passed into nirvana. As soon as the Buddha Bhagavan passed into complete nirvana, some monks rolled on the ground, some cried out holding their arms, some were tormented in their minds by suffering, and some relied on the Dharma nature.

Therefore, the Blessed One has explained all this to us in detail, and all things that are cherished, pitied, rejoiced, and pleasing have been separated, vanished, destroyed, and parted. Then, the Venerable Maha-Kashyapa said to the Venerable Ananda: 'Ananda, if the monks are not gradually and slowly subdued, then the gods who can live for hundreds of thousands of kalpas will mock, slander, and revile those monks who have renounced in this well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya, saying that they dwell in many places without paying attention to each other.' Maha-Kashyapa asked: 'Ananda, do you know how many gods there are?' Ananda replied: 'From the city of Kushinagar to the Hiranyavati River, from the grove of twin Sala trees to the stupa crowned by giants, within a range of twelve yojanas, there is no place that is not covered and filled with powerful and famous gods. Even a place as small as a mustard seed is filled with gods. Some gods are rolling on the ground, some are crying with their arms around their shoulders, some are disturbed by suffering, and some are relying on the Dharma nature.' The Blessed One has explained all this to us in detail in various ways, and all things that are cherished, pitied, rejoiced, and pleasing have been separated, vanished, and parted. That night, the Venerable Maha-Kashyapa spoke to the Venerable Ananda about various definitive Dharma talks, and then remained silent in the form of a noble one. Then, the next morning, the Venerable Maha-Kashyapa said to the Venerable Ananda: 'Ananda, go to the city of Kushinagar and tell those strong men: 'Friends, tonight at midnight, the Teacher will enter the realm of Nirvana without remainder, do what you have to do and what you have to practice there.' From now on, those who surround the city will say: 'Our Teacher has entered the realm of Nirvana without remainder, and we are'

Do not say that you are remorseful because we have failed to make offerings and diligence to the Tathagata. After the Venerable Mahakashyapa said this, the Venerable Ananda, having heard what the Venerable Mahakashyapa said, took the Sanghati robe and went with the other monks, as well as the practitioners who followed, to the assembly hall of the Mallas in the city of Kushinagara. At that time, the Mallas of the city of Kushinagara were gathered in the assembly hall, about five hundred people, for some business. Then, the Venerable Ananda said to the Mallas of the city of Kushinagara: "Many relatives of the Mallas of the city of Kushinagara have gathered together, wise and virtuous ones, please listen! Tonight, in the last watch of the night, the Teacher will enter Parinirvana into the realm of Nirvana without remainder. You should do what needs to be done and practice there, and in the future, do not let the neighbors in the city say, 'Our Teacher has entered Parinirvana into the realm of Nirvana without remainder, and we are remorseful that we have failed to make offerings and diligence to him.'" After saying this, some of the Mallas of the city of Kushinagara rolled on the ground, some cried out holding their shoulders, some were tormented by suffering, and some relied on the nature of Dharma, like this, the Blessed One has shown us in many ways, that which is most precious and cherished of all, happiness and joy have departed, becoming non-existent, destroyed, and separated. Then, the Mallas of the city of Kushinagara, as many as there were, brought the fragrances, garlands, incense, powders, and musical instruments of the city of Kushinagara. Their sons, wives, male servants, female servants, employees, those who lived on wages, as well as their friends, relatives, ministers, and in-laws, came out of the city of Kushinagara and went to the grove of twin Sala trees, and upon arriving, they paid homage, respect, reverence, and offerings to the Blessed One, who was sleeping like a lion, with fragrances, garlands, incense, powders, and musical instruments.
