The same as before. Then the Blessed One said to the venerable Ānanda: "Ānanda, do not grieve, do not be unbearable, do not lament. Why is that? Ānanda, your service as the attendant of the Tathāgata has benefited, brought happiness, unity, and immeasurability through loving physical actions, loving speech actions, and loving mental actions. Ānanda, in the past, those Tathāgatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, also had their attendants serve the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, in this way, just as you have done for me now. In the future, those Tathāgatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, will also have their attendants serve the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, in this way, just as you do for me now. Ānanda, therefore, do not grieve, do not be unbearable, do not lament. How can those things that are born, arise, are made, are conditioned, and dependently originate, which are subject to destruction, attain non-destruction? This is impossible, it cannot be understood. Ānanda, I have said before that all that is dear, lovely, joyful, and pleasing will be separated, dispersed, destroyed, and disappear. Then, the Blessed One, wishing to make the venerable Ānanda very happy, said to the monks: "Monks, a Wheel-Turning King has four rare and wonderful qualities. What are the four? If the retinue of the royal family comes to see the Wheel-Turning King, they will be delighted to see him. If he teaches the Dharma to those who come near, they will be delighted to hear the Dharma. If the retinue of Brahmins, the retinue of householders, and the retinue of ascetics come to see the Wheel-Turning King, they will be delighted to see him. If they come near

If the Dharma is preached to them, they will be delighted to hear it. Monks, similarly, the monk Ānanda also has four wonderful and extraordinary qualities. What are the four? If the community of monks comes to see the monk Ānanda, he will be delighted to see them coming. If the Dharma is preached to those who come, they will be delighted to hear it. If the community of nuns, the community of laymen, and the community of laywomen come to see the monk Ānanda, he will be delighted to see them coming. If the Dharma is preached to those who come, they will be delighted to hear it. Monks, furthermore, the monk Ānanda has four wonderful and extraordinary qualities. What are the four? If the monk Ānanda teaches the Dharma to the community of monks, he teaches with respect, not without respect. Then the community of monks thinks, 'Alas, the venerable Ānanda does not remain silent, and only preaches the Dharma, is it not enough?' The community of monks does not tire of listening to the Dharma from the monk Ānanda, but the monk Ānanda does not speak at all. If the monk Ānanda teaches the Dharma to the community of nuns, the community of laymen, and the community of laywomen, he teaches with respect, not without respect. Then the community of laymen and so on thinks, 'Alas, the venerable Ānanda does not remain silent, and only preaches the Dharma, is it not enough?' The community of laymen and so on does not tire of listening to the Dharma from the monk Ānanda, but the monk Ānanda remains silent. Then the venerable Ānanda, being greatly pleased by the Blessed One, said to the Blessed One, 'Venerable, why did the Blessed One abandon the six great cities of the diverse world, such as Śrāvastī, Vaiśālī, Campā, Vārāṇasī, Vaijayantī, and Rājagṛha, and choose to show Nirvāṇa in this evil city, desolate monastery, ruined castle, suburb of the city, and mere ruins of the city?'
