When many monks had gathered, the monks were arranged in two rows. Approaching the new monks and the elders, the new monks were eating, and they heard the sound and understood the meaning. They felt remorse and did not eat, and they were fasting. At that time, the monks asked the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: "One should sit and eat while reciting two or three verses, and one should not regret it." Buddha. The Blessed One was dwelling in the Deer Park at Ṛṣipatana (the hermitage of the seers) in Vārāṇasī. Then, the Blessed One, having dressed in his lower garment and robe in the morning, took his bowl and went to Vārāṇasī for alms. Then, another monk also dressed in his lower garment and robe in the morning, took his bowl and entered Vārāṇasī for alms. Then, that monk was sitting near a carpenter, thinking with unwholesome thoughts, attached to and abiding in sin. The Blessed One saw that monk sitting near a carpenter, thinking with unwholesome thoughts, attached to and abiding in sin. Having seen him, the Blessed One said to that monk: "Monk, monk, do not make yourself like a hot seed, do not be a stench and a leak. Monk, do you know that if you make yourself like a hot seed, a stench and a leak here, you will become a place that bees do not taste or lick?" Then, that monk thought: "The Blessed One knows the thoughts of my mind." Feeling fear, dread, and terror, his hair stood on end, and he left from near the carpenter. The Blessed One thought: "The fault is that the monk is dwelling in a non-practice area." Therefore, knowing that one should not dwell in a non-practice area, after going for alms in Vārāṇasī and finishing the meal, he abandoned the remaining alms food, put down his bowl and robe, washed his two feet, and entered the temple.

He entered into Samadhi. Then, the Blessed One arose from Samadhi in the morning and sat down on the seat prepared before the Sangha of monks. Having sat down, the Blessed One spoke thus to the monks: Monks, today I, in the morning, having put on my robes and carrying my bowl, went to Varanasi for alms. Another monk also, in the morning, having put on his lower garment and robes, carrying his bowl, entered Varanasi for alms. Then, that monk sat near another carpenter, contemplating with unwholesome thoughts, clinging to and dwelling in sin. Monk, if you here are like a hot seed, like a foul odor, and like a leak, know that the bees will not taste or lick such a place. Then, that monk thought: The Blessed One knows the thoughts of my mind, and feeling fear, dread, and terror, his hairs stood on end, and he quickly departed from the side of that carpenter. Monks, therefore, the fault lies in a monk dwelling in a non-practice area. Therefore, monks, one should not dwell in a non-practice area. If one dwells in a non-practice area, it will become a serious offense. Then, another monk rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and, bowing with folded hands towards where the Blessed One was, said to the Blessed One: Venerable One, in the noble Dharma-Vinaya, what is called a hot seed? What is called a foul odor? What is called a leak? What is called the bee of the leak? Monk, a hot seed is a euphemism for thoughts of evil and unwholesomeness, such as:

Generating thoughts of desire, Generating thoughts of malice, and generating thoughts of harm. The term "foul smell" is a euphemism for the five objects of desire, namely, form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Although it is said thus, monks, this does not refer to the five objects of desire, but rather to craving and attachment, which is what is called "desire." The term "outflow" refers to how some people contact the six sense bases and dwell in outflow, namely, the sense base of contact through the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body. The term "bees of outflow" refers to how some people dwell without guarding the six sense bases, and due to desire and displeasure, the mind follows the worldly sinful and unwholesome dharmas and leaks away. After the Blessed One spoke thus, the Teacher, the Well-Gone One, further spoke these words: "Whoever is shaken by desire, Not guarding the eye and ear, Enjoying through discrimination, Monk, makes the seed hot. Foul smell and outflow, Attached to sin and abiding. Whether it be a village or a solitary place, Whether it be night or day, Far from happiness, Misery draws near. Whoever, with inner peace, Diligently strives for self-realization, Eliminating those bees, He dwells happily in this world. Relying on virtuous people, The noble ones speak good words, If one knows those words to be true, Then one will not go to rebirth." The Blessed One said, "Monks, do not dwell in places that are not suitable for practice." The monks did not know how many kinds of unsuitable places there were, so at that time the monks asked the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, "There are five kinds of unsuitable places: places of amusement, places of prostitutes, places of taverns, the courtyard of the king's palace, and places of bad lineage." Summary: A black snake sleeps in the bed, Do not pay homage wearing the same Dharma robes. Pay homage to the four elders, Likewise, pay homage to the Sangha as well. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was in Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti.
