From appearing to not appearing. The appearances of wisdom are experienced individually. Passing through walls, passing through mountains, passing through fences without obstruction, the body moves like the sky. Disappearing and appearing on the ground is like water. Walking on the surface of water is like walking on land. Sitting cross-legged in the sky and walking is like a winged bird. These two, the sun and the moon, are so powerful and have such great magical abilities that they can touch with their hands, touching everywhere, and have mastery over the body even up to the world of Brahma. It is like a skilled goldsmith or a skilled apprentice of a goldsmith, knowing that gold has been thoroughly refined, and distinguishing it by whatever cause they desire, be it a book, an earring, a necklace, a bracelet, an anklet, a ring, or a silver and gold chain, they can make it quickly. In the same way, this person, too, through a mind that is equally settled, completely pure, fully purified, without fault, free from the afflictions of proximity, upright, suitable to abide, and unshakeable, attains the ability to manifest wisdom in the realm of magical powers, and the mind fully enters into these powers. It is like, from one becoming many, as before, having mastery over the body even up to the world of Brahma. It is like a potter or a skilled apprentice of a potter, knowing that a lump of clay has been thoroughly refined, and quickly making it into whatever kind of vessel they desire. In the same way, he, too, with a mind that is equally settled, completely pure, fully purified, without fault, free from the afflictions of proximity, as before, has mastery over the body even up to the world of Brahma. It is like a skilled stonemason or a skilled apprentice of a stonemason, knowing that a stone has been thoroughly refined, and quickly manifesting whatever shape they desire. In the same way, he, too, with a mind that is equally settled, completely pure.

From being completely purified, as before, the body freely reaches the world of Brahma. He, in this way, with a mind abiding in equanimity, completely pure, utterly cleansed, without fault, free from the proximate defilements, upright, abiding in fitness, having attained immovability, in order to manifest the knowledge of the divine ear, applies his mind to those superknowledges. He, with the purified divine ear, surpassing that of humans, hears two kinds of sounds, those of humans and non-humans, distant and near. It is like this: a man blowing a conch ascends to the summit of a high mountain, and at midnight the sound of that conch, blown, is heard spreading in all directions. Likewise, in the same way, he, with a mind abiding in equanimity, completely pure, utterly cleansed, without fault, free from the proximate defilements, upright, abiding in fitness, having attained immovability, in order to manifest the knowledge of the divine ear, applies his mind to those superknowledges. He, in this way, with a mind abiding in equanimity, completely pure, utterly cleansed, without fault, free from the proximate defilements, upright, abiding in fitness, having attained immovability, in order to manifest the varieties of mind, applies his mind to those superknowledges. He fully knows, as they truly are, how the minds of other sentient beings and other individuals, which are conceptualizing and analyzing, have changed. He fully knows, as it truly is, that a mind with desire is a mind with desire. He fully knows, as it truly is, that a mind without desire is a mind without desire. And he knows a mind with hatred and a mind without hatred, a mind with delusion and a mind without delusion, a distracted mind and an undistracted mind, a contracted mind and a scattered mind, an elated mind and an unelated mind, a calmed mind and an uncalmed mind, a concentrated mind and an unconcentrated mind, an uncultivated mind and a cultivated mind, and an unliberated mind as an unliberated mind.

Thus, one fully understands the earth. How does one fully understand what is called a mind that is utterly liberated as a mind that is utterly liberated? It is like this: a person with eyes holds a perfectly clean mirror and observes the features of his own face. Likewise, with a mind that is perfectly pure, completely cleansed, without fault, free from the afflictions of proximity, upright, workable, and abiding without wavering, having attained immovability, in order to manifest the categories of wisdom of the mind, from engaging the mind in manifest knowledges, as before, up to fully understanding what is called a mind that is utterly liberated as a mind that is utterly liberated, this is called a foot. What is knowledge? It is that, likewise, with a mind that is perfectly pure, completely cleansed, without fault, also free from the afflictions of proximity, upright, workable, and abiding without wavering, having attained immovability, in order to manifest the wisdom of remembering former abodes, engaging the mind in manifest knowledges, he remembers various former abodes, such as: one birth, two births, three births, four births, five births, six births, seven births, eight births, nine births, ten births, twenty births, thirty births, forty births, fifty births, a hundred births, a thousand births, many hundreds of thousands of births, a kalpa of destruction, a kalpa of formation, a kalpa of destruction and formation, many kalpas of destruction, many kalpas of formation, and many kalpas of destruction and formation. Those sentient beings were such, and I was also there with such a name, the caste was this, the lineage was this, the food was like this, and I also experienced such happiness and suffering separately, life was so long, I dwelt so long, the end of life was so much, and then I died and transmigrated to such and such a place, and then also died and transmigrated to such and such a place, and then also died and transmigrated here, thus the shape and, the fixed reason for abiding, various previous
