Having practiced, he abides. This body of his enters a state of complete purity and complete whiteness, takes delight in it, and having pervaded it with this state, manifests and attains it, and abides. For example, whether it is a householder or a son of a householder, with cloth woven with eight or nine strands, his head, arms, and feet are wrapped up to the point that he is covered from head to toe. Just as there is no part of the body that is not covered and not pervaded by a completely pure white cloth, in the same way, he takes delight in the completely pure mind in this very body, and having pervaded it with this state, manifests and attains it, and abides. For example, there is no part of the body that is not pervaded and not covered by a completely joyful mind. Madhukarnam Apaka, those Shravaka disciples abandon pleasure and also abandon suffering. Since both joy and displeasure have ceased, it is neither pleasure nor suffering, possessing equanimity and completely pure mindfulness, manifesting and attaining the fourth dhyana and abiding. His mind at that time becomes neither high nor low. Because he abides in a state that is neither high nor low, he obtains immovability. For example, in a multi-storied building or a large mansion, a lamp is lit with mustard oil. If the flame is not moved or shaken by wind, birds, people, or non-humans, at that time the flame becomes neither high nor low. Because it abides in a state that is neither high nor low, it burns without wavering. In the same way, Madhukarnam, when those Shravaka disciples abandon pleasure and also abandon suffering, since both joy and displeasure have ceased, it is neither suffering nor pleasure, possessing equanimity and completely pure mindfulness, manifesting and attaining the fourth dhyana and abiding. His mind at that time becomes neither high nor low. Because he abides in a state that is neither high nor low, he obtains immovability, and he thinks to himself: 'This body of mine is a large corporeal form, composed of the four great elements. Consciousness abides in this, relies on this, and enters into this. How can I generate mind from this body and cultivate another corporeal form born of mind, without defects and with undamaged faculties?' Thinking in this way, he generates mind from that body.

He is able to realize the other body, the colored mind-born body, which is not destroyed and whose senses are not deficient. For example, an unpleasant beryl jewel, eight-sided, with a good nature, clear and very pure, without stain, tied with threads of four colors: blue, yellow, red, and crimson. If a man with eyes sees it, he knows that this is the thread, this is the jewel, and the jewel is strung on the thread. Likewise, he can generate mind from that body, thereby realizing the other body, the colored mind-born body, which is not destroyed and whose senses are not deficient. For example, if an unpleasant man pulls a reed from a bundle of reeds, and a man with eyes sees it, he knows that this is the bundle of reeds, and this is the reed that has been pulled out. Likewise, he can generate mind from that body, thereby realizing the other body, the colored mind-born body, which is not destroyed and whose senses are not deficient. For example, if an unpleasant man takes a snake out of a box, and a man with eyes sees it, he knows that this is the box, and this is the snake, and the snake has been taken out of the box. Likewise, he can generate mind from that body, thereby realizing the other body, the colored mind-born body, which is not destroyed and whose senses are not deficient. For example, if an unpleasant man draws a sword from its scabbard, and a man with eyes sees it, he knows that this is the scabbard, this is the sword, and the sword has been drawn from the scabbard. Likewise, he can generate mind from that body, thereby realizing the other body, the colored mind-born body, which is not destroyed and whose senses are not deficient. He thus obtains an unmoving mind that is undistracted, completely pure, completely purified, without fault, free from the afflictions of proximity, upright, and able to abide, and he realizes wisdom in the realm of magical powers, and he enters the mind into clairvoyance. He can experience various realms of magical powers, such as becoming many from one, and becoming one from many.
