The king pursues, the external king flees, and the internal king pursues. The renunciate lives by wrong livelihood through base knowledge, and turns away from such behavior. Furthermore, some bad renunciates or Brahmins, having fully enjoyed offerings given in faith, live by wrong livelihood through base knowledge, like this: engaging in the sun and moon going astray from their paths, the path of solar eclipses, the path of lunar eclipses, falling meteors, appearing in a certain direction, burning in a certain direction, gods drumming in the sky, the sun's non-eclipse path, the moon's non-eclipse path, falling meteors, appearing in a certain direction, burning in a certain direction, gods drumming in the sky, the sun and moon both appearing on the path in such a way, being so miraculous and powerful, and appearing not on the path. In this way, they set on the path, and in this way, they set not on the path. If the path becomes like this, it will be joined with afflictions and purification. The renunciate turns away from such behavior of living by wrong livelihood through base knowledge. Furthermore, some bad renunciates or Brahmins, having fully enjoyed offerings given in faith, live by wrong livelihood through base knowledge, like this: if the sun and moon both go astray from their paths in this way, there will be such and such a ripening. This kind of ripening enters from solar and lunar eclipses, and when meteors fall, appear in a certain direction, burn in a certain direction, and gods drum in the sky, it ripens in this way. The sun and moon are so miraculous and powerful, appearing on the path in this way, and setting on the path in this way. If the path becomes like this, the ripening of the bliss of afflictions and purification will become like this, they show. The renunciate turns away from such behavior of living by wrong livelihood through base knowledge, because he possesses such a noble aggregate of morality, and because he has no inner faults, he experiences bliss individually. He withdraws his senses from their objects, and abiding in this, he guards all mindfulness. With clear mindfulness, and a mind guarded by mindfulness, he dwells in a state of equanimity. He

Even when the eye sees forms, it does not grasp at characteristics, nor does it grasp at details. This is because the faculty of the eye is not restrained. If one dwells without restraint, attachment arises, the mind becomes confused, and worldly evils and unwholesome dharmas follow. To restrain these, one should diligently guard the faculty of the eye. Guarding the faculty of the eye is restraining the faculty of the eye. Similarly, when the ear hears sounds, the nose smells odors, the tongue tastes flavors, the body feels tactile sensations, and the mind knows dharmas, one does not grasp at characteristics, nor does one grasp at details. This is because the faculty of the mind is not restrained. If one indulges, attachment arises, the mind becomes confused, and worldly evils and unwholesome dharmas follow, thereby obtaining evil. Restraining the mind is restraining the faculty of the mind. Therefore, possessing this noble discipline, by this turning away of the senses from their objects, there is no fault within, and one experiences bliss separately. Knowing well coming and going, and abiding thus, one knows and abides in appearance and universal appearance, contraction and expansion, sewing and robes, holding begging bowls, walking and standing, sitting and lying down, not lying down, speaking and not speaking, delirious speech in sleep, and eliminating sorrow. Possessing the aggregate of noble discipline, with senses secluded, and possessing mindfulness and correct knowledge, one feels true bliss without inner fault. Then, dwelling in solitude, in monasteries, under trees, and in empty houses, dwelling in secluded places, or under trees, or in empty houses, sitting cross-legged, straightening the body, establishing mindfulness before oneself, one abandons worldly attachment. Practicing with a mind free from attachment, one completely purifies the mind of attachment. Having abandoned malice, drowsiness, sleep, pride, regret, and doubt in the world, one is free from hope and free from doubt. One completely purifies the mind of doubt regarding "This is a virtuous dharma, what is it like?" This
