After Tika showed the necessity, he said to the venerable Black One. The venerable Black One said to the venerable Good Sight. Thus, the great elephants all passed into complete nirvana. One hundred and ten years after the Buddha Bhagavan passed into complete nirvana, when the sun of the Victorious One set, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) transgressed the ten bases of what should not be done, transgressed the Sutra Pitaka, transgressed the Vinaya Pitaka, and separated from the Teacher's doctrine. They do not enter the Sutra Pitaka, they do not heed the Vinaya Pitaka, and they cast out what is contrary to the Dharma. For those, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) completely show what should not be done as what should be done, and universally practice, extremely practice. What are the ten? The monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) consider the thing called "Alala" as something to be done, with disagreement as non-dharma, with agreement as non-dharma, and with disagreement as an act of dharma. This is the first base, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, and separating from the Teacher's doctrine. They do not enter the Sutra Pitaka, they do not heed the Vinaya Pitaka, and they contradict the Dharma. The monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) completely show what should not be done as what should be done, and universally practice, extremely practice. Furthermore, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) cause the venerable ones to rejoice, saying "Please rejoice," and cause the monks of Niyankor (ཉན་ཀོར།) to rejoice, and consider rejoicing as something to be done, with disagreement as non-dharma, with agreement as non-dharma, and with disagreement as an act of dharma. This is the second, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, and separating from the Teacher's doctrine. They do not enter the Sutra Pitaka, they do not heed the Vinaya Pitaka, and they contradict the Dharma. For those, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) completely show what should not be done as what should be done, and universally practice, extremely practice. Furthermore, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) dig the ground with their own hands and practice causing others to dig, considering it as something to be done. This is the third base, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, and separating from the Teacher's doctrine. They do not enter the Sutra Pitaka, they do not heed the Vinaya Pitaka, and they contradict the Dharma. For those, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) completely show what should not be done as what should be done, and universally practice, extremely practice. The monks mixed salt that had been blessed for their entire lives with it, used it everywhere, and said that salt was permissible. This is the fourth basis, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, deviating from the Teacher's teachings, not entering the Sutra Pitaka, disregarding the Vinaya Pitaka, and contradicting the Dharma. For these, the monks of Vaishali (ཡངས་པ་ཅན།) completely declared what was not permissible to be permissible, used it everywhere, and thoroughly used it. Furthermore, the monks of Vaishali gathered at a distance of one yojana and half a yojana, ate food together, and made it permissible by the road. This is the fifth basis, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, deviating from the Teacher's teachings, not entering the Sutra Pitaka, disregarding the Vinaya Pitaka, and contradicting the Dharma. For these, the monks of Vaishali completely declared what was not permissible to be permissible, used it everywhere, and thoroughly used it. Furthermore, the monks of Vaishali ate food and drink that had not been left over, using two fingers, and made the two fingers permissible. This is the sixth basis, transgressing the Sutra Pitaka, transgressing the Vinaya Pitaka, deviating from the Teacher's teachings, not entering the Sutra Pitaka, disregarding the Vinaya Pitaka, and contradicting the Dharma.
