One should not beat the breast. If nuns beat their breasts, they will incur a transgression. This incident occurred in Shravasti. The venerable Upali asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: "Venerable one, if a nun disrobes, what should be done with her?" The Bhagavan said: "Upali, however old she is, she should be placed in the community of monks. After she has taken full ordination, she will become a bhikkhu." In short, from the community of nuns, she should be placed in the community of monks. She should not be placed in any other way. The messenger should also take full ordination in the same way. The great sage has permitted this. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was staying in Shravasti, in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park. Then Upali asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: "Venerable one, the Bhagavan has said that if a nun disrobes, she should be placed in the community of monks according to how old she was from the beginning. If a monk disrobes, should he also be placed in the community of nuns according to how old he was from the beginning?" Upali, if a monk disrobes, he should be placed in the community of nuns according to how old he was. If a monk or a nun, whichever it may be, disrobes again after being placed there, what should be done? The Bhagavan said: "Upali, from there also, she should be placed according to the circumstances." This incident occurred in Shravasti. Then the venerable Upali asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan: "Venerable one, the Bhagavan has said that if a monk or a nun disrobes twice, she should be placed according to the circumstances. Venerable one, if she disrobes three times after being placed there, what should be done?" The Bhagavan said: "Upali, she should not be placed in any way at all. Upali, if she disrobes three times, the status of a monk and the status of a nun should not be placed in any way at all immediately. Do not hesitate about this." The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was staying in Shravasti, in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park. On one side of Shravasti...

There lived a householder named Jimpa (བྱིན་པ་), who was very rich, had a lot of wealth, and enjoyed a lot. His property was wide and vast, like the wealth of a lazy person, which was enviable. He took a wife from the same caste as himself and enjoyed happiness with her. On the other side, there was a householder named Ridakdra (རི་དགས་སྒྲ་) living there, who was also very rich, had a lot of wealth, and enjoyed a lot. His property was wide and vast, like the wealth of a lazy person, which was enviable. He also took a wife from the same caste as himself and enjoyed happiness with her. They competed with each other in wealth. One said, "Your way of enjoying wealth is not as good as mine." The other said, "Your way of enjoying wealth is not as good as mine." The two of them became friendly with each other. One sent gifts from time to time, and the other returned them in the same way. The two of them became friendly with each other. After some time, many people living in Shravasti (མཉན་དུ་ཡོད་པ་) had something to do. They all went to the garden to gather and dealt with the affairs of the city there. The two householders, Jimpa and Ridakdra, were there, chatting intimately with each other. Householder Jimpa asked his friend, "Friend, even if we two pass away, what should we do to ensure that our friendship continues to our sons, grandsons, great-grandsons, and great-great-grandsons?" Ridakdra said, "Friend, that's good. I think so too. Come here. Let's arrange the marriage before the children are born. If I have a son and you have a daughter, you will give your daughter to my son. If I have a daughter and you have a son, I will give my daughter to your son." Friend Jimpa said, "Okay, let's do that." The two of them got engaged before the children were born. After some time, the wife of householder Jimpa became pregnant. After eight or nine months, she gave birth to a daughter, who was beautiful, looked lovely, and was a beautiful woman with complete limbs.

That is, she was always crying. Then, some monks came to the house of the householder Given and preached the Dharma, and at that time she would listen attentively. For twenty-one days, they held a grand celebration of her birth, and began to name her. They discussed, "What should this girl be named?" The relatives said, "This girl always desires the Dharma, listens attentively to the Dharma, and is the daughter of the householder Given, therefore, this girl's name should be 'Dharma-giving'." They entrusted the daughter Dharma-giving to eight wet nurses: two to nurse, two to feed, two to wipe away dirt, and two to play with. Those eight wet nurses quickly nurtured her with milk, yogurt, ghee, butter, and other specially prepared foods, like a lotus growing from the mud in a pond. Then, a householder named Deer Sound heard that the householder Given had given birth to a daughter. He thought, "If my friend has a daughter, I should send her clothes and jewelry." Because he had always thought of her as his fiancée, he sent her clothes and jewelry, and sent a message saying, "Friend, I heard that you have a daughter, and I am very happy. These are the clothes and jewelry I am sending to my friend's daughter, please be sure to accept them." After he accepted them, he sent a reply saying, "Friend, it is good that you have done this, and we have also become relatives. If you have a son, I will give him my daughter." When the householder Deer Sound heard the reply, because he had always desired a son, he and his wife enjoyed pleasure to the fullest. After enjoying pleasure to the fullest, before long, his wife became pregnant. After eight or nine months had passed, she gave birth to a son. After the son was born, they also held a grand celebration of his birth for twenty-one days. They discussed, "What should this boy be named?" His relatives said, "This boy was born at the time of the Saga star, so this boy's name should be 'Saga'." So they named the boy Saga. They also entrusted the boy Saga to eight wet nurses: two to nurse, two to feed.
