In short, slaves and guardians, the basis of arguments and petitioners, great miracle workers and the renowned, all the armies and kinds of insects. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. The venerable Ananda had two novices named Slave and Guardian. They conversed with each other, spoke of comings and goings, greeted each other, and were close friends. One of the two said, "You should take full ordination, and I will be your preceptor and serve you." The other said the same. They kept deferring to each other, and as a result, neither of them took full ordination. Then, the venerable Ananda went to where the Bhagavan was, and upon arriving, bowed his head at the feet of the Bhagavan and sat to one side. The venerable Ananda said to the Bhagavan, "Venerable one, can one preceptor, one teacher, and one karma ordain two people?" Ananda replied, "It is possible." "Which of the two is older?" "Neither." "Venerable one, can one preceptor, one teacher, and one karma ordain three people?" Ananda replied, "It is possible." "Which of those is older?" "Neither." "Venerable one, can one preceptor, one teacher, and one karma ordain four people?" Ananda replied, "It is not possible." "Why is that?" Ananda said, "The Sangha cannot perform the karma of the Sangha; it is contradictory for the Sangha to fully ordain the Sangha. If the Sangha fully ordains the Sangha, it becomes a serious offense." The venerable Ananda had those two fully ordained with one karma J01,Vo11,Po37A. At that time, they did not know to whom to prostrate, how to assign duties, or how to receive offerings. Therefore, the venerable Ananda asked the Bhagavan in detail. The Bhagavan instructed, "The two should not prostrate to each other. The offerings should be received by the one who arrived first. The one who arrived later should be assigned to the duties of the one who arrived first, and receive

Then the offering should be given later. The introduction is in Shravasti. The venerable Ananda asked the Buddha Bhagavan: Venerable, in the future, there will be monks who have impaired memory and weak memory. Those who do not know the place, village, or town, where and where the sutra was preached, and what precepts were established, how should those people act? In addition, if the sutras, Vinaya, and Abhidharma are forgotten, how should those people act? In addition, if the past teachings of kings, householders, and laymen, and the names of places, kings, cities, towns, householders, and laymen are forgotten, how should those people act? The Bhagavan said: Ananda, whoever forgets the names of places, etc., those people should say any of the six great cities, or say where the Tathagata has been many times. If the name of the king is forgotten, then it is King Prasenajit. The name of the householder is Anathapindika. The laywoman is the mother of Mrigadava, the mother of the deer park. The fixed place of the past is Varanasi. The king is Brahma Datta. The householder is the householder Damaka. The laywoman should be said to be the wife of the householder who was born on the Uposatha. If the sutras, Vinaya, and Abhidharma are forgotten, they should be written in books and kept, and there should be no regrets about this. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in the Kalanda bamboo grove in the Bright Garden of Rajagriha. Kings, ministers, Brahmins, householders J01, Vo11, Po37B, villagers, locals, rich people, merchants, and captains served, as teachers, as servants, and made offerings, so the Bhagavan also obtained robes, alms, bedding, medicine for healing, and utensils. The heretics were not served by kings, ministers, Brahmins, householders, villagers, locals, rich people, merchants, and captains, and were not regarded as teachers.
