Having taken a wife from equal standing, he enjoyed all pleasures with her. Although he enjoyed pleasures, he had neither a son nor a daughter. Sometime after that, his wealth was exhausted, and his enjoyment was also exhausted, so he said to his wife, "Good woman, now that I am old, I cannot seek wealth anymore, so I will go to Jeta Grove and become a renunciate." She replied, "Master, if you become a renunciate, with whom shall I stay? I will also become a renunciate." He replied, "Good woman, very well, let us go." Then, taking her, he came to Gautami, the mistress of beings, and prostrated at her feet, saying, "Holy mother, please allow this maidservant of yours to become a renunciate in the Dharma and Vinaya that you have well-spoken, please let her become a renunciate. I will go to Jeta Grove and become a renunciate." She said, "Son, it is good that you have generated the mind of enlightenment with your wife, but concerning renunciation, the Blessed One has said that a wise person who sees five qualities should be inclined to renounce." From then on, as before, the Buddha and the Buddha's hearers, and the wise and those who have gone rightly, and the holy beings, also praised renunciation in many ways, saying, "It is good, please let her renounce," and so she let her renounce. He also went to Jeta Grove and became a renunciate from the monks, and he became known as "the merchant living in Shravasti who became a renunciate." What he obtained through great merit were robes, alms, bedding, medicine for sickness, and utensils. Sometime after that, he went out for alms. His wife also went for alms, and at that time a great famine occurred, and she was poor in alms. He saw her and said, "Sister, how are you living?" She replied, "Venerable, it is the time of famine, and no one gives food for alms, so I am living in suffering." He said, "Sister, I have plenty of alms, but if the Blessed One allows, I can give you half of my alms." She said nothing, but went to the summer retreat and told the nuns what had happened.

The earth spoke to the monks: The monks prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said to such a bhikkhuni, if a monk receives alms, then that monk should give half of the alms to her in times of famine, do not hesitate about this. The Blessed One said to such a bhikkhuni, if a monk receives alms, then that monk should give half of the alms to her when times of famine arrive. After saying this, he left half of the alms for her, and she ate it and left. Later, she received a temporary alms and did not go to that monk. That monk thought: She must have obtained food from elsewhere, therefore, if she does not come here, for whom should I leave this? Thinking, he did not leave it. After some time, that bhikkhuni also came and said: Sister, you will not come, will you? I have not left any alms, if this food is left, if the Blessed One allows, then I will give it to you. After saying this, she paid homage to his feet and went to the summer retreat. She told the bhikkhunis what had happened, and those bhikkhunis told the monks. The monks also prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught: Therefore, the things left by the monks, the bhikkhunis can accept and eat. Whatever is left by the bhikkhunis, the monks can accept. Do not hesitate about this, the bhikkhunis should give to the monks, and the monks should also receive from the bhikkhunis. The origin of the story is in Shravasti, when the monks asked about the uncommon Dharma of Obstructions in the midst of the bhikkhuni sangha, she felt ashamed and lowered her head. The monks told the Blessed One what had happened, and the Blessed One taught: The monks should not ask the bhikkhunis about the uncommon Dharma of Obstructions, the bhikkhunis themselves should ask. If a monk asks a bhikkhuni about her uncommon Dharma of Obstructions, then he has violated the
