The gods of the Brahma host uttered a sound and chanted along, 'Friends, the Blessed One to gods and men', until 'This is turned in the Deer Park of Varanasi Rishipatana, therefore the ranks of the gods will increase, and the ranks of the non-gods will completely decline', as before. The Blessed One, in the Deer Park of Varanasi Rishipatana, turned the Dharma wheel corresponding to the Dharma three times, in twelve forms. Therefore, this name of the Dharma is called the Turning of the Dharma Wheel. When the Blessed One turned the Dharma wheel in the continuum of those five monks, and they were fully ordained as monks, they always addressed the Tathagata by name, lineage, and lifespan, the Blessed One said to them, 'Monks, you should not always address the Tathagata by name, lineage, and lifespan.' Monks, what is the reason for that? If someone always addresses the Tathagata by name, lineage, and lifespan, then that foolish person will suffer harm, unbenefit, and pain for a long time.' The Blessed One thought, 'Any slight fault that arises is because the monks always address the Tathagata by name, lineage, and lifespan.' Therefore, a monk should not address the Tathagata by name, lineage, and lifespan.
