Being tormented by hunger and thirst, he entered the house of that Brahmin. After a while, he saw the girl. Having seen her, he said, "Girl, give me water." She said, "Wait a moment, please." He remained there without saying a word. She quickly blew out the lamp, and the leader of the thieves stared at the girl, observing her secretly. After the girl blew out the lamp, she looked at the water, and the leader of the thieves said, "Girl, what are you looking at?" She said, "I am looking at the water." He said, "What is there to look at in it?" She said, "Because there might be insects or hair falling into it." He said, "Girl, I have entered to harm you, if you were to poison me, why would you say such a thing?" She said in verse: "Those who steal the wealth of others, with deceitful hearts, Whatever deeds the thieves do, Whether they do it or not is fine. I will always protect the Dharma." He was very pleased and said, "Girl, if you become my sister, what should be done? Tell me." She said, "If you, because of generating strong attachment to the wealth of others, are struck in a vital spot by an arrow and die, and I, distressed by the suffering of being separated from my brother, cry out, I will not be happy, so I do not need a brother who is a thief like you." Therefore, if you can perfectly take the five foundations of discipline, then I will be your sister." He unwillingly spoke with pleasing and sweet words, and she became very happy and desirous of becoming his sister. She said, "Sister, it is good, let it be done in that way." She turned him away from robbery and placed him in the five places of discipline. Monks, what do you think? At that time, that leader of thieves was this Brahmin himself. At that time, that Brahmin girl was this monk Shariputra, and at that time also, he turned that person away from robbery and placed him in the five foundations of training. Now also, this one, having generated faith through purity, has been liberated from the wilderness of samsara and placed in the ultimate nirvana of accomplishment and unsurpassed bliss. Monks, therefore, purity has these benefits.

And others as well. Therefore, just as Shariputra did, the monks should cleanse themselves in the same way. In summary: edging, patches, and sweat pads, nuns are the moon, the dwelling should have six qualities, and three should sit on a bed. The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. At that time, the monks used the robes that were distributed in due time without thrift, so that the threads at the ends of those robes wore out. Then, the monks reported this to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan instructed: Edging should be applied to the worn ends of the robes. After the Bhagavan said that edging should be applied to the worn ends of the robes, the monks began to use them after applying the edging, but the threads still wore out. The Bhagavan instructed: Patches should be sewn in between. The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. The Bhagavan said: The sanghati should be protected like the skin. Some other monks did not have other suitable clothes to wear, so they were always given the sanghati. In the hot summer, sweat dripped from the armpits, becoming dirty and swollen, and emitting an unpleasant odor. Then, the monks reported this to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan instructed: Sweat pads should be placed in the armpits. After the Bhagavan said that sweat pads of the sanghati should be placed in the armpits, the monks did not know how to make sweat pads, and the Bhagavan instructed: The length of the cloth should be half a cubit, and the width should be a span; such a sweat pad should be placed there. The monks sewed the sweat pads, and the Bhagavan instructed: Do not sew them. After the sweat pads became dirty, the Bhagavan instructed: They should be washed and turned over from time to time. The monks put them on one side only, and the Bhagavan instructed: They should be put on both sides. The Bhagavan
