Should not be done, do not regret this. The origin of the story is in Rajagriha. King Sarvārtha sent a precious lava gem as a gift to King Bimbisāra, and King Bimbisāra gave it to the Venerable Pilindavatsa. The Venerable Pilindavatsa wore it and went to the monastery residence and stayed there, and the thieves heard that King Sarvārtha had sent a precious lava gem to King Bimbisāra, and that the king had given it to the venerable Pilindavatsa, and that he was wearing it and staying in such and such a monastery residence, they began to discuss with each other as they had heard. Wise ones, if it is rumored like that, what should we do about this? Some said, what is so difficult about this? We'll just go and steal it. They went and gently knocked on the door. The Venerable Pilindavatsa said: Who is it? They said: Venerable, we are thieves. What do you want? Venerable, the lava gem. Good people, if that is the case, stretch out your hand from the window. Then, one of them stretched out his hand, and the Venerable Pilindavatsa recited over the lava gem, May it not break! May it not burn! May it not be exhausted when pulled! After blessing it in this way, he extended one end of it from the window, and the thieves pulled and pulled, piled it up and pulled, but they could not pull it to the end, and they began to cut it with a sword, but it did not work, and they began to burn it with fire, but they could not burn it. They said: Venerable Pilindavatsa, what have you done to us? Let go! He said: Foolish people, if you have not done anything, how could I do anything? Your strength, diligence, and suppression of others, if you can pull it, how could I not let go? They said: Wise ones, if the Venerable Pilindavatsa does not let go with great miraculous power, it will be terrible if we are caught, let's run away! And they fled. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One thought: What is the fault? It is that the monk is wearing such a jewel and living in a monastery residence.

Therefore, the monks should think that such jewels should not be enshrined in the monastery, and then said to the monks: Monks, the monk Pilindavatsa wearing such a Lava gem and living in the monastery is not good. Therefore, monks should not wear such Lava gems and live in the monastery. If you live, you will commit a serious crime. However, if a monk living in a monastery possesses such a Lava gem, he should put it at home. The Blessed One said that such a Lava gem should be placed at home. Another monk living in the monastery obtained a Lava suitable for a great man, and he put it at home. When the animals fainted, the monks prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: It should be planted and placed with the Name Ruka tree. If it is not found, use pine trees, or the leaves of the Vasaka tree, or the leaves of the Arista tree, and plant and place them in order. If it is not possible to plant in order, the Blessed One said: If there is no condition, plant it on top and place it, and dry it from time to time. The story took place in Shravasti. When the benefactor Anathapindika offered the Jeta Grove to the Sangha of monks from the four directions, at that time, the footprints of the teacher and the elders came to pay homage. At another time, in winter, the monks trembled from the cold wind, curled up and slept in their dwellings. The benefactor Anathapindika went to Jeta Grove to pay homage to the footprints of the teacher, and saw the monks abandoning good deeds and living like that, so he said: Venerable ones, why do you abandon good deeds and live in the diligent teachings? They said: Layman, we are frozen by the cold wind. He left without saying a word, prostrating at his feet. After he returned home, he offered five hundred pieces of clothing to the Sangha, and the monks sewed them up and dyed them as they pleased.

Changed and wore them. After a while, the householder Anathapindika also came to prostrate at the feet of the Blessed One. When he looked at the dwellings of the monks, those clothes were not to be seen, and he said: "Venerable ones, where are those clothes?" They related what had happened to the clothes. He said: "Venerable ones, you have wasted such clothes that are suitable for great people! Alas, you should have kept the long borders and the white ones!" When they were sitting without courage and saying nothing, those monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: "Therefore, I allow the Sangha to keep long clothes with borders."
