Beating. Therefore, he struck that person twice with a stick. The Venerable Joyful thought: I looked and just went away. So he left. Having gone to the Victory Grove, he did the work of food, washed the bowl, and said to the monks: Venerable ones, do not go to such and such street. The monks said: Why? He said: There is a fierce, cunning, and rude Brahmin there, who is having about five hundred Brahmin boys recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins. He struck me twice with a stick. They said: What is your fault? He said: Venerable ones, one is a fault, the second is not a fault. How is it a fault, how is it not a fault? Without cause, he struck me with a stick, and when I turned back to look, he struck me twice more, and my turning back to look at him was the fault. The first one was not a fault. The Venerable Nanda heard this and said: What does the Blessed One say? He said: It is nothing great. Nanda said: Blessed One, I have heard it, please say it again. He told what had happened. Nanda shook his head three times and said: I understand, do not be displeased. Thinking, I will repeat that, shave it off, anoint it with sesame oil, wash it, put on the lower garment in the morning, take the bowl and the Dharma garment, and go to Shravasti for alms. He gradually went to the street, and that Brahmin was distracted and did not see him. The Venerable Nanda began to walk in front of him. That Brahmin saw him and said to a Brahmin boy: Brahmin boy, go and strike the head of this bald ascetic with a stick. The Venerable Nanda heard this and said: Miser, why waste it for nothing? You come here. Having said this, that Brahmin became angry and went himself and struck Nanda with a stick. Nanda grabbed the Brahmin's arm and said: Miser, are you going to hit Nanda again? Come, let's go to the royal palace. Saying this, he grabbed that person's arm and dragged him away. That person called those Brahmin boys, and they also grabbed his other arm and dragged him away.

Then, Nearjoy, with great power, took those five hundred Brahmin boys and the Brahmin, and went to the gate of the king's palace and sat down. This is the rule: when the Six Groups are angry and sit at the gate of the king's palace, the palace of King Light-King will shake. The king saw it and commanded a man: "Hey, man, have some noble Six Groups come to the gate? Go and see." The man went and saw the venerable Nearjoy and about five hundred Brahmin boys sitting at the gate. The man said to the king, "God, the venerable Nearjoy is at the palace gate." The king said, "Invite him in." He came in and said, "God, if the venerable Joy had not renounced, what would he have become?" "The venerable one would have become a wheel-turning king ruling by power." "Then what would you have become to him?" "The venerable one would have become a servant." "God, you allow the monks to act as youths, and the nuns to act as the retinue of concubines. If that is the case, one of us Brahmins offended the god, slapped the teacher Joy twice, and also angrily slapped me." The king was angry and commanded the ministers, "Go and cut off that Brahmin's hand!" They took that Brahmin to the street, and that Brahmin's parents heard about it, and they gathered with friends, brothers, and relatives, and slowly spoke words of sorrow like compassion, uttering cries of "Alas, my son," and went to the street. Those people and the crowd said to the minister, "Hey, Virtuous one, if offending the god requires cutting off a hand, then this Brahmin lives by his hand, so his left hand should be cut off." They cut off his left hand. After some time, that Brahmin still covered his left hand and read with his right hand. Once, Nearjoy saw it and was very angry, and went to the king and said, "This is how the kings' happiness is, the fruit of the command ends here, then there is no god either." The king said, "What did the venerable one do?" Nearjoy said, "God,"

The Brahmin's arm was not cut off. The king summoned the ministers and said: Did you not cut off the Brahmin's arm? They said: Your Majesty, it has been cut off. If that is so, then the venerable Nye-ga said this. The venerable Nye-ga said: Your Majesty, that Brahmin is turning with his right hand and letting the Brahmin children read. The ministers said: Your Majesty, his parents' message said that this Brahmin lives by his hands, so please cut off his left hand. Therefore, I cut off his left hand. The king said: If his parents let him cut off his left hand, I will have him cut off his right hand. Go and cut it off! That person went to him and cut off his right hand. That person's two hands were hanging down. That person was sitting in pain, and Nye-ga asked: Brahmin, why don't you hit us with a stick, but sit with your hands hanging down? He felt ashamed, his pride and arrogance were destroyed, and he sat without saying a word. The Brahmins and householders mocked, saying: The Sakya monks have no compassion, and after cutting off with punishment, they also cut off affection. They slandered, insulted, and spoke ill. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought, any slight fault that occurred was because the monks

Listen, monks. In the past, in a garden adorned with various kinds of trees, abundant with flowers, fruits, and water, there lived an ascetic who ate fruits and roots, drank water, and wore antelope skin and tree bark. He sat near a bilva tree, contemplating his own affairs. From above, a monkey threw a bilva fruit, hitting the ascetic's head, and he spoke in verse: What you do not have, I will not do; what you do not have, you yourself are doing. That ascetic's friend, a hunter, came to that place because he had lost his prey. The ascetic, for some reason, left the bilva tree and went elsewhere. The hunter, not seeing him, looked around and sat near the bilva tree. The monkey threw a bilva fruit at the hunter's head, and the hunter was greatly shocked. His head was struck by the bilva fruit, and due to the pain and discomfort caused by the bilva fruit's impact, he began to look up. When he saw the monkey, he became very angry, drew his bow, and shot a poisoned arrow at it, and the monkey fell to the ground and died. Monks, what do you think? The ascetic at that time was this monk named Gawa. The monkey at that time was this Brahmin. The hunter at that time was Ne Gawa, and at that time also, Gawa protected, and Ne Gawa indulged. Even now, Gawa protects, and Ne Gawa indulges. Summary: Evil lineage and astrology, mixed wool and contempt, good boundaries and good giving, considering the alms bowl as one's own, Unvanquished and Moon-protected, stole the cloth of his own sewing. This summary verse should be explained in detail as it appears in the Second Fall, without any difference. Summary: Pig and sugar tree, palm tree, Dharma robe, black Gawa, beeswax.
