Those practitioners, having sharpened the tooth wood, should scrape the tongue. Monks, having sharpened the tooth wood, scrape the tongue and make noise without rubbing it. The Blessed One instructed: Having sharpened the tooth wood, rub it against each other and then scrape the tongue. Monks, having chewed the tooth wood, throw it away without making a sound, hitting the heads of those residing in the monastery, and after they complained, the Blessed One instructed: Do not throw it away like that, but should make a sound. Monks, when throwing away the tooth wood, make a sound. Furthermore, whatever slight excretion of feces, urine, phlegm, snot, vomit, diarrhea, etc., they throw it away like that, incurring the same offense. The Blessed One instructed: Whatever slight excretion of feces, urine, etc., should all be discarded with a sound. The Blessed One said that tooth wood should be eaten, and when monks were on the road, those on the road in some places had no trees, leaves, or branches, and because they could not find tooth wood, they were fasting. The Blessed One instructed: Do not fast, but you can use heavy flour, or flavor it with heavy flour, wash it three times and eat it, and do not regret this. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, Anāthapiṇḍada's Garden. The Venerable Śāriputra had two novices, named Cunda and Svara-datta. Then, at another time, when the Venerable Śāriputra was about to go on a pilgrimage, he said to the monastic brothers Cunda and Svara-datta: Novices, I am going on a pilgrimage, will you stay or go? The Venerable Cunda said: Abbot, I will go only with you. Svara-datta said: Abbot, I will stay here. The Venerable Śāriputra said: Svara-datta, if so, to whom will you entrust yourself? He said: Abbot, please entrust me to the venerable Acāraka, he is with him. He said: Svara-datta, he always engages in improper conduct, will he not harm you? Abbot, he treats me like my parents, what harm will he do?

Then he set out on a journey, and he and the Shravakas also came out of the monastery. He said, "Shravakas, do this and this." He said, "I will not do it." The Acharya angrily said, "Foolish one, if you do not do even this little, then what else will you do?" He said, "Are you my teacher? Are you a Khenpo? I will not do it." The Acharya became even more angry, grabbed him by the neck, and drove him out of the monastery. He was crying at the gate of Jetavana. Mahaprajapati Gautami, with five hundred attendants, came to Jetavana to prostrate at the feet of the Blessed One. She saw him crying and said, "Venerable Shravaka, why are you crying?" Shravaka: "I have been expelled." (Gautami asked:) "By whom?" (Shravaka replied:) "The venerable Acharya." She thought, "Wherever I go, having turned my back on the Buddha's son, it is not my share." So they surrounded him and sat down. After a while, King Prasenajit of Kosala also came to prostrate at the feet of the Blessed One, and he also began to ask him, "Venerable Shravaka, why are you crying?" He told him what had happened. The king also thought, "Wherever I go, having turned my back on the Buddha's son and the Buddha's mother, it is not my share." So he also surrounded him and sat down. After a while, the householder Anathapindika also came to prostrate at the feet of the Blessed One, and he also began to ask him, "Venerable Shravaka, why are you crying?" He told him what had happened. He thought, "Wherever I go, having turned my back on the Buddha's son, the Buddha's mother, and the king, it is not my share." So he also surrounded him and sat down. At that time, there was a loud noise, a great commotion, and the sound of a large crowd of people in the Jeta Grove. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, do things knowing, so the Buddha, the Blessed One, asked the Venerable Ananda, "Ananda, there is a loud noise, a great commotion, and the sound of a large crowd of people in the Jeta Grove, what is the reason?" He told the Blessed One in detail about the situation.
