They all manifested great faith. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, those people whose villages are in the fields by the Srimati River, where the monks reside, their gains are indeed well-gained. The Blessed One's attendant, the venerable Ananda, who acted and resided in the presence of the Blessed One, discerned the Blessed One's intention, or learned from his words, and said to them: Venerable ones, the Blessed One praises you and also wishes to see you, so you are right to come. Having heard this, they discussed among themselves: Venerable ones, if the Blessed One praises us and also wishes to see us, what should we do? Some of them said: What is there to do about this? Just come. Arhats do not manifest wisdom without thinking, so others said: That's good, but let's gather many people and come together. Then, they said to the monks: Venerable ones, know that the Blessed One praises our virtues and also wishes to see us, so we are coming looking at you. They said: Venerable ones, if that is so, then we will also go. Let it be so. They set out with those people and gradually arrived at Shravasti, and then, in the Jeta Grove, the newly arrived monks and the resident monks rejoiced greatly with each other, and there arose a loud noise, a great noise, and the sound of a large crowd of people. The Blessed One heard the loud noise, the great noise, and the sound of a large crowd of people in the Jeta Grove, and because the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, ask knowing full well, the Buddha, the Blessed One, asked the venerable Ananda: What is this loud noise, this great noise, and the sound of a large crowd of people in the Jeta Grove? He replied: Venerable one, it is the monks from the Srimati River who have gathered many people and come here with a great many monks, and the newly arrived monks and the resident monks are very much with each other.

Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ānanda: Ānanda, go and tell the monks who live on the banks of the river Snyan-ldan: Monks, you are not to stay here, leave today. Venerable one, so be it. Having heard the Blessed One's command, the venerable Ānanda said these words to the monks who lived on the banks of the river Snyan-ldan: Venerable ones, know that the Blessed One has expelled you, do not stay here, leave today. They realized that we had been expelled by the Blessed One, so they took their bowls and robes and began to travel.

The monks went to where the Blessed One was, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the venerable Kunga said to the Blessed One: Venerable One, the seats for the Blessed One and the monks on the bank of the River Snyan ldan have been prepared in a certain monastery. Please consider that now is the time. Then, the Blessed One went to the monastery where the monks on the bank of the River Snyan ldan were. Having arisen from the sphere of nothingness, he entered the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of infinite space, the fourth dhyana, the third, the second, and the first dhyana. The monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River also arose from the sphere of nothingness and entered the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of infinite space, the fourth dhyana, the third, the second, and the first dhyana. Then, the Blessed One thought to himself: If I enter the first dhyana, the monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River will also enter the first dhyana. If I arise from the first dhyana and enter the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, the monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River will also arise from the first dhyana and enter the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. If I arise from the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception and enter the sphere of nothingness, the monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River will also arise from the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception and enter the sphere of nothingness. If I arise from the sphere of nothingness and enter the first dhyana, the monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River will also arise from the sphere of nothingness and enter the first dhyana. Now, with those modes, those signs, and those reasons, I will perfect and abide in the first dhyana, which surpasses all the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Then, the Blessed One, with those modes, those signs, and those reasons, perfected and remained in the first dhyana, which surpasses all the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Then, the monks on the bank of the Nairanjana River thought to themselves: Venerable ones, be aware that now the Blessed One abides by his own abiding, so we too should abide by our own abiding. They also began to abide by their own abiding. Then, the Blessed One, the next morning, arose from that previous samadhi,
