Then, the Blessed One traveled in the land of Magadha and arrived at the city of Saketa, residing on the mountain of Saketa in the abode of the Yaksha Bakula. Then, as night fell, darkness descended, and there was a slight drizzle with lightning, the Blessed One was walking in an uncovered promenade. According to the Dharma, the attendant monks of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, would not enter their dwellings until the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, had entered their chambers and settled down. Indra, the lord of the gods, whose knowledge and vision penetrate downwards, thought to himself: 'The Buddha, the Blessed One, is residing in the city of Saketa, on the mountain of Saketa, in the abode of the Yaksha Bakula. Now, as night falls, darkness descends, and there is a slight drizzle with lightning, he is walking in an uncovered promenade. I should go near to him.' Thinking this, he manifested a pure chamber made of Vaidurya and went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, he walked and stayed near the Blessed One as he was walking. At that time, the people of Magadha used the name of the Yaksha Bakula to frighten any crying boys and girls. Then, the Venerable Naga-rakshita thought to himself: 'Alas, the Blessed One has been walking in an uncovered promenade for a long time. I should frighten him with the name of the Yaksha Bakula.' Thinking this, he turned back, divided, and stayed for the purpose of walking, and said to the Blessed One: 'Bakula! Bakula! Shramana! I am the Yaksha Bakula!' Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Naga-rakshita: 'Foolish man! Do you also think that you can frighten the Tathagata with the Yaksha Bakula? The Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, is free from fear and apprehension. The Tathagata has no fear, timidity, or hair-raising experiences.' Then, Indra, the king of the gods, lost faith and said to the Blessed One: 'Venerable one, does such a person also exist in this Dharma and Vinaya?'

Sassama? Koushika, you stay. The Gotama lineage is vast, and this will later become a completely pure Dharma-holder. The Blessed One considered that the slight fault that occurred was known to be caused by the monks wearing wool inside out, and he said to the monks: Monks, the foolish Naga Protector wore the wool inside out and said to the Tathagata: Vakula, Vakula, practitioner, I am, Yaksha Vakula. Saying this, therefore, monks should not wear wool inside out. If they wear it, they will commit a serious offense. The Blessed One said to the monks: Monks should not wear wool inside out. If they wear it, they will commit a serious offense. Thus he spoke. Those monks who lived in the cattle dwelling found wool garments there, and lice entered those garments, and the monks were eaten by lice, and when they could not obtain comfort, the monks prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: One should sit wearing wool inside out, and one should sleep wearing wool inside out, but one should not break it. Entered for alms. As he was walking for alms, because the Dharma robe was dragging, he quickly placed the bowl on the ground and arranged the Dharma robe. When the Brahmins and householders saw this, they mocked, saying: The sons of the Shakyas, the ascetics, are not clean, they place the bowl haphazardly. When they said this, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught: A monk should not place the bowl haphazardly. If a monk places the bowl haphazardly, it becomes a serious offense. However, in order to protect the Dharma robe, a button should be attached to the Dharma robe. The monks attached it, but the Dharma robe tore, and the Blessed One taught: Sew and fix it with a buckle. The monks sewed and fixed it with a buckle, but because there was no knot, it was not fixed, and the same fault occurred again. The Blessed One taught: A knot should be tied. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. In Shravasti, there was a monk who was begging for alms.
