He said: "Good. Let's learn recitation like that." Having said that, he started reciting together with that person, but he recited it very short, and then said: "Venerable, you made a mistake because you didn't recite the long version." He said: "Child, that's how I learned it." He bowed to his feet with his head, and then went to where the venerable Ashvajit, Bhadra, Vashpa, Mahanama, Yashas, Purna, Vimala, Gavampati, and Hastaka were, and after arriving, he bowed to their feet and said: "Venerable, please teach me the recitation." They said: "Child, very good. Let's learn recitation like that." Having said that, he started reciting together with that person, and then he recited it very short, and then said: "Venerable, you made a mistake." He said: "Child, that's how I learned it." He bowed to their feet, and then went to where the venerable Shariputra was, and after arriving, he bowed to the feet of the venerable Shariputra, and then said to the venerable Shariputra: "Preceptor, please teach me the recitation." He said: "Child, very good. Let's learn recitation like that." He started reciting together with him, for how long? After reciting the long version, the venerable Shariputra also recited the long version, and then he said: "Preceptor, all those monks recited it wrong, only you recited it without error." He said: "Foolish person, you yourself recited it wrong, the monks recited it without error." Having said that, he was scolded and remained silent. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One thought: Any slight fault that occurred was because the monks recited the Buddha's words by mixing the syllables, words, and order. Therefore, a monk should not recite the Buddha's words by mixing the syllables, words, and order. If a monk recites the Buddha's words by mixing the syllables, words, and order, he will commit a serious offense. If it is a fixed term of a place, a fixed term of a language, or a fixed term of a region, there is no transgression. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was in Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti.

He dwells in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's alms in Sravasti. The group of six monks still play and frolic even in their old age, and those monks said: Venerable ones, even though your hair has turned white, will you still not stop playing and frolicking? They did not say a word, but gathered together and whispered: Dear Nanda, near Nanda, black bowl one, let us do something that these people do not like. They were thus focused on seeking opportunities, while some disciplined monks went to secluded places to meditate and recite. Then, the group of six set fire to the forest from three places, and then gathered in one place and sat down. The monks, threatened by the forest fire, began to flee in haste. The group of six monks said: Venerable ones, why are you in such a hurry? Venerable ones, have you not seen the forest fire? Venerable ones, did the Blessed One only preach the precepts in times of ease? They smiled slightly and then said: Venerable ones, do not deliberately harass us. Misers, we will make you unhappy. Just as they were saying this, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One taught: A monk should not set fire to the forest. If he sets fire, he will commit a serious offense. The Buddha, the Blessed One. He dwells in Anathapindika's alms in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta in Sravasti. In Sravasti, an old monk and a young monk were traveling together, and the old monk had many bowls and many utensils, while the young monk was unknown and had nothing more than three robes. The old monk said: Venerable one, I am tired, please carry the bundle of robes for a while. The young monk said: Venerable, if I will not be scolded, I would like to rest for a while. Venerable one, who would scold you? Tell me. Venerable, do you not see the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha? What? What can this ignorant thing do? Good sir, if it is okay to disrespect, even for a while, but I must ask, are you my preceptor?

Is he a scholar or a teacher? What? Why does he show it afterwards? He remained without saying a word, and the old man thought: This miser, I will make him unhappy. He thought. How long? The two of them entered the temple, where there was a rule that one could not stay even for one night. The one in charge of arranging accommodation said: Find a place to stay. The old man accepted. The young man said: O Venerable, I have not arranged a place to stay, please arrange a place to stay. Thus, he went to the elder of the Sangha, prostrated at his feet and said: Venerable, please arrange a place for me. He said: Good man, with whom did you come? Venerable, with a certain monk named so-and-so. Good man, the elder of the Sangha separated me from my retinue. He came to say this. Go and ask him for accommodation. He went to others, and everyone rejected him in the same way, and when it was dark, he returned to the old man, knocked on the door and said: Venerable, I prostrate. Who are you? My name is so-and-so. May you be free from illness. Venerable, in this temple there is a rule that one cannot stay even for one night, please arrange a place for me. Good man, it is good that the Sangha has made such a rule, but if they have not made it, I will make one. At that time, I was a person with many vessels and many utensils, but now? Is he an elder? Even though you have done disrespect, give a place to the one who gives a place to stay. He became discouraged and remained without saying a word. At the time when his dwelling was obstructed, the monks prayed to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Do not wander and travel without a dwelling. A monk should not be fierce like a lion. The Sangha should not make rules that would harm the monks. Does a monk wander and travel without arranging a dwelling? Is he fierce like a lion? If the Sangha makes such a rule, all will become serious offenses. The attendant of the Buddha, the Blessed One, the venerable Naga Protector.
