They prayed that it would not turn into that. Monks, what do you think? The virtuous queen of King Krikī and the five hundred women were none other than Mahāprajāpatī Gautamī and the five hundred nuns. Because they made offerings and prayers at the stupa of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light Protector, the ripening of that karma has caused them to be born now for one hundred and twenty years, yet their bodies have no wrinkles or white hair, and they are like the form of a sixteen-year-old girl. Monks, therefore, from "for those who are purely black deeds" to "should strive in that way," monks, you should train in that way, as before. The Blessed One spoke thus, and the monks rejoiced in what the Blessed One had said and praised it. The Blessed One taught that a monk should not say "wake up" to a monk who has fainted. In Shravasti, there was a householder who took a wife from the same caste. He played with her, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness together. He played, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness, but he had no son and no daughter. When he was old, his wealth was exhausted, and his resources were depleted. He said to his wife: Good woman, I am old and poor, and I have no son or daughter, so I will go to the Jetavana to become a renunciate. She said: Son of the prince, please become a renunciate in that way. He went to Jetavana and became a renunciate. After some time, his wife came to see him, and when he fainted, no monk said "wake up." Then, his former wife took soil with her left hand, drew a boundary with the soil, and said: May you live long. The monks began to examine him, and he took her hand, pulled her, and said: Son of the prince, you have become a renunciate among enemies, the Jetavana is not destroyed by five hundred yakshas wearing blue clothes, only I alone say "wake up" to you.

Therefore, do not let them take away your radiance, please stay here. Go back to your own home. Saying this, he took his hand and left. The monks said to him: Old man, do not go, stay! He insisted on leaving and would not stay, so the monks grabbed one of his hands. He said: No, no. At this time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: You should ask, where is your hand? If he says: Which hand are you holding? Then, it is certain that the old man wants to leave, and you should release him completely. If he says: Which hand is being held by the former wife? Then, he does not want to leave, so do not release him. However, monks, the old man has the thought of wanting to live, therefore, for the old man who has fainted, you should say: Wake up! The monks said to him: Old man, where is your hand? He said: Venerable ones, which hand are you holding? After they released him, he returned to his own home. This became an obstacle for him to become a monk after ordination and full ordination. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. In Shravasti, there was a faithful householder who went to the Jeta Grove with an unfaithful Brahmin. When the householder fainted, no monk said: Wake up! But that Brahmin said: Wake up! Then he said: Friend, you trust the enemies, this Jeta Grove will not be destroyed by five hundred yakshas wearing blue clothes, only I said: Wake up! Therefore, they will take away your radiance, come back, let's go! At this time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: Monks, householders have the thought of wanting to live, therefore, for the householder who has fainted, you should say: Wake up! Furthermore, monks, for the old man who has fainted, you should get up and prostrate.

If a young person faints, an old person should say, "May you be free from illness." The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in the Deer Park at Ṛṣivadana in the city of Vārāṇasī. When the Bhagavan had the group of five monks enter and abide in the Dharma-Vinaya well-spoken by him, at that time those monks did not know what was to be prepared and what was to be eaten. Those monks petitioned the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan said: Monks, there are five things to be prepared: the preparation of roots, the preparation of stems, the preparation of leaves, the preparation of flowers, and the preparation of fruits. There are five things to be eaten: flour, rice, warm porridge, meat, and oil cakes. Since they did not know which were vegetables and what was to be eaten, the Bhagavan said: Milk, yogurt, fresh butter, butter, fish, meat, dried meat, and whatever else is acceptable, even to be moistened with water and eaten. Monks, all moist things increase strength. Verse: The handle of the door leaf, the lattice of the windows, the upper and lower sills, the waist-fixing stick, and dry wood. The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anāthapiṇḍada's Garden. Monks were building dwellings but not installing doors, so the Bhagavan said: Doors should be installed. The monks installed doors but did not install door leaves, so those engaged in meditation and recitation were exposed. Brahmins and householders saw them, approached, and spoke to them, causing them to not become single-minded. The Bhagavan said: Monks, door leaves should be installed. The monks installed door leaves but did not install handles, so it became difficult to open. The Bhagavan said: Handles should also be installed. When it was opened, it made a sound, so the Bhagavan said: A piece of leather should be installed. Because windows were not installed, it became dark. The Bhagavan said: Windows should be installed.
