Surrounded by places, they entered palanquins to preach the Dharma, and were seen by the group of six monks. They stayed with those people and asked the attendants: "Who is this walking person, wise ones?" They said: "It is the abbot." "Did the Blessed One allow palanquins?" "He did." "The Blessed One's intention is good, these Shakyas who are happy cannot walk on foot, so in every way he is kind to us." After they left, the group of six monks said: "Gava, Ne Gava, why are we sitting? We should ride in palanquins." "Good, let's do that," they made palanquins decorated with tails and bells, etc. Then they sat in them and walked in the streets, treating the world like their sons. Brahmins and householders said: "Wise ones, what is this? The Blessed One allows riding." "Noble one, do you ascetics also allow the enjoyment of desires?" They sat without saying anything. At that time, the monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: "Monks, those who are not sick should not walk sitting down." "Monks, if those who are not sick walk sitting down, they will commit a serious offense." However, there are two cases of walking sitting down: those who are old and weak, and those who cannot bear illness. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta, in the Anathapindika's Garden. In Shravasti, there lived a faithful householder, who went with an unfaithful Brahmin to the Jeta Grove of Prince Jeta. The faithful householder began to show her the nearby gardens. As they wandered around, they saw a pile of vomit under a tree. She said: "Friend, the ascetics of the Shakya clan are unclean, they urinate and defecate under the flower and fruit trees." He said: "Friend, the great self-natured ones would not do that, it must have been done by some undisciplined householder." As they were saying this, an old man with his head wrapped in cloth began to defecate under a tree. The unfaithful Brahmin saw this and said: "Friend, you

Wouldn't people say that a householder did it? Once, a monk wrapped his head with a cloth and defecated under a tree, and someone said, "Look at that." The monk was ashamed and didn't say a word. Later, he told the monks about it. The monks reported it to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One thought: A slight fault occurred because the monks were defecating under trees. Therefore, a monk should not defecate or urinate under a tree. If he does, he will commit a serious offense. After the Blessed One said, "One should not defecate or urinate under a tree," the monks went on the road, dug holes, and went to a remote place. Some monks wanted to defecate, and some monks wanted to urinate, but they thought, "These trees have tree spirits," so they neither defecated nor urinated, and as a result, they all became ill. Later, the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: In any monastery where there are trees with tree spirits, one may defecate and urinate there, and there is no need to regret it. After the Blessed One said, "One may defecate and urinate in a monastery," the monks living near the village did not do so. When spring came, they defecated and urinated, and they defecated and urinated towards the sun, and as a result, they all went mad. Later, the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Therefore, it is permitted to defecate and urinate near thorny trees, and there is no need to regret it. Once, Nyeda made the radish field unusable by defecating in it, and the Blessed One said: A monk should not defecate or urinate in a place with green grass. The monks defecated and urinated in a place without green grass, and as a result, the place became unclean. Brahmins and householders saw it and ridiculed and scolded them, saying: What good is the Dharma of these Shakya ascetics? Just as they gather together to eat, they also gather together to defecate and urinate. Later, the monks reported this to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One
