The elder brother is with the sister, and the sister is with the younger brother, and the friend is, when seeing friends and friends arguing, what need is there to mention other people? When they argue and fight, the mother will speak ill of the son, and the son will speak of the mother, the father will speak of the son, and the son will speak of the father, the brother will speak of the sister, and the sister will speak of the brother, and the friend will speak ill of the friend, what need is there to mention other people? Also, here I have seen two monks who, together with the monks, argued over some matter, gave up their vows and fell. They would not, in any way, speak ill of the Buddha, nor would they speak ill of the Dharma and the Sangha, but would only curse each other. We two are, here are base, inferior, and without glory, we have not been able to practice pure conduct, unmixed, completely perfect, completely pure, completely cleansed, before the Blessed One, until the end of our lives. Thus he spoke. Monk, this is also my faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma. Just as it was said before. Monk, I also have other faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma. Monk, here King Pasenadi of Kosala, those who should not be killed are also killed, and those who should be killed, if they can be spared, for their own benefit, those great Kshatriya castes like great Sala trees, those great Brahmins like great Sala trees, those great householders like great Sala trees, without waiting for the end of the conversation, they interrupt from time to time, speaking disrespectfully and without honorifics, this is what I think. Monk, once, the Blessed One was sitting among hundreds of thousands of attendants, teaching the Dharma, and there was not even the sound of coughing, nor the sound of sneezing. Then, a person made a coughing sound, and another person said to that person: Hey, sir, you stay quiet. Have you not seen the Blessed One, like a bee, contentedly proclaiming the wonderful Dharma? Thus he spoke. Having said that, that person did not say anything.

Furthermore, O Bhikshu, I thought thus: The Blessed One is so powerful and possesses such great magical abilities that it is wonderful to hear the Dharma and tame sentient beings in a place where there is no punishment or weapons! O Bhikshu, this is also my faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma, as mentioned before. O Bhikshu, I have another faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma. O Bhikshu, I have seen some ascetics and Brahmins who, without wealth, practice pure conduct. After nine or eight months, they abandon those forms, signs, and characteristics, and return to enjoy the five desirable qualities, indulging in play, joy, and delight. O Bhikshu, I have seen the disciples of the Blessed One practicing pure conduct until the end of their lives, unmixed, complete, pure, and immaculate, even until the end of their lives. O Bhikshu, this is also my faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma, as mentioned before. Vinaya-kshudraka-vastu, Volume 8. O Bhikshu, I have another faith in the Blessed One arising from the Dharma. O Bhikshu, I trust those sages, givers, and elders, and I also give them enjoyments and fame, even their lives. They do not think of doing as the Blessed One would do. O Bhikshu, once I wanted to observe those trusted sages, givers, and elders, so I came out from among the retinue to a secluded place and thought thus: To whom will they show their feet, the Blessed One or me? Then, they praised the Buddha in many ways, praised the Dharma, and praised the Sangha. They showed their heads to where the Blessed One was and their feet to where I was. I thought thus: The Blessed One is so powerful and possesses such great magical abilities that I now give them enjoyments and fame.

I give even from giving up to life. These people do not think that the Tathagata acts on me as rare, thinking like this, from here to: O venerable one, this is also the faith that I have arisen in the Blessed One from the Dharma. Up to here is the same as before. O venerable one, I have other faith that has arisen from the Dharma. O venerable one, I am also a native of Kosala (one of the sixteen ancient Indian Mahajanapadas), and the Blessed One is also a native of Kosala. My lineage is also Kshatriya, and the Blessed One's lineage is also Kshatriya. I am also old, decayed, and aged, and I am eighty years old. The Blessed One is also old, decayed, and aged, and his body is eighty years old. O venerable one, I am also a king, a Kshatriya lineage who has been crowned from the head. The Blessed One is also the supreme Dharma King. O venerable one, this is also the faith that I have arisen in the Blessed One from the Dharma. Therefore, I think like this: The Blessed One is the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha. Your Dharma and Vinaya are well spoken. The Sangha of the Hearers is well practiced. I think like this. Then, King Pasenadi of Kosala extensively explained various Dharmas in front of the Blessed One, prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, and left. Then, the Blessed One, knowing that King Pasenadi of Kosala had left not long ago, said to the monks: Monks, you should uphold, recite, and understand the categories of various Dharmas. Why is that? Monks, the categories of various Dharmas are meaningful, have Dharma, have Brahmacharya, and are able to be realized, able to be fully enlightened, and able to be extinguished. Therefore, after a son of good family has gone forth with faith, he should take up the categories of various Dharmas, fully understand them, and thus uphold, hold, and read them. King Pasenadi of Kosala took a long time listening to the Dharma in front of the Blessed One, and the son of conduct also stayed for a while, then got into the chariot and went to Shravasti (an ancient Indian city) after.
