Furthermore, venerable sir, I have faith in the Blessed One that arises from the Dhamma, as before. Bhikkhu, I have other faith that arises from the Dhamma. Bhikkhu, here, I see some ascetics and Brahmins who are wise, who are conceited, as before. They gather those questions and go to where the Blessed One is, and ask the Blessed One questions that are not yet complete. The Blessed One prophesies to them about questions that are not yet complete, and prophesies completely. Those who are prophesied to, being pleased and satisfied, go for refuge to the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha, and also take up the training rules. Bhikkhu, this is also my faith in the Blessed One that arises from the Dhamma, as before. Bhikkhu, I have other faith in the Blessed One that arises from the Dhamma. Here, I see some Brahmins and householders who are wise, who are conceited, as before. They gather those questions and go to where the Blessed One is, and ask complete questions. The Blessed One completely prophesies the Dhamma to them, and those who are prophesied to, being pleased and satisfied, ask the Blessed One for ordination and full acceptance as bhikkhus. The Blessed One ordains them and fully accepts them. Having been ordained and fully accepted, having attained the state of arahantship, experiencing the joy and happiness of liberation, those people think thus: 'We were not good before, we were very bad. We were not ascetics before, now we are ascetics.' They acknowledge thus. 'We were not Brahmins and arahants before, now we are arahants.' They acknowledge thus. 'Now, we are ascetics, Brahmins, and arahants.' They think thus. Bhikkhu, this is also my faith in the Blessed One that arises from the Dhamma, as before. Bhikkhu, I have other faith in the Blessed One that arises from the Dhamma. Bhikkhu, here, I see some ascetics and Brahmins...

Grayish, dim, with thin flesh, weak, with an unpleasant complexion, with weakened senses, seeing people whom many people do not like to see. Having seen them, I thought to myself: Are these knowledgeable people reluctantly practicing brahmacharya? Or are they afflicted by some long-term illness? Or have they secretly committed some sinful and unwholesome deeds and concealed them? Like this, these knowledgeable people are grayish, dim, with thin flesh, weak, with weakened senses, and disliked by many people. I thought. I went to them, and having gone, I said this: Knowledgeable ones, why have you become grayish, dim, with thin flesh, weak, with weakened senses, and disliked by many people? They replied: Great king, we are harmed by desire. Monk, I thought to myself: If desires, through acquisition, enjoyment, and accumulation, could become beautiful in appearance, or pleasing to look at, or beautiful, then now King Pasenadi of Kosala, I, should become the most beautiful in appearance, the most pleasing to look at, and the most beautiful. Why is that? Because King Pasenadi of Kosala, I, obtain the five qualities of desire at will and without effort. Because desires, through acquisition, enjoyment, and accumulation, do not become the most beautiful in appearance, the most pleasing to look at, and the most beautiful, therefore I see the monastic community of the Blessed One's disciples, with very beautiful appearances, developed senses, bright complexions, completely pure skin color, few worries, and lives not dependent on others. Therefore, I can practice brahmacharya for as long as I live, completely and purely, without contamination, and practice completely purely. I thought. Monk, this is also the faith that arises in me towards the Blessed One from the Dharma, as previously stated. Monk, I also have other faith that arises in me towards the Blessed One from the Dharma. Monk, here, when I go for the sake of wealth, those who are for the cause of desire, the basis of desire, the purpose of desire, do not quarrel with their sons, sons with fathers, fathers with sons, sons with mothers, people
