The Six Groups entered Shravasti in the morning for alms, and they saw a Brahmin holding a Brahma thread and begging, and he obtained much food and drink. The Six Groups said: "Good friend, near good friend, this method is good, let us do the same." That afternoon, they held the Brahma thread and went for alms. The non-believers saw them and mocked and showed respect. When they said, "Show respect," the Six Groups said: "Miserly ones, what should you respect and what should you worship? Don't you even know this?" They said: "What should we know? Old Brahmins should be respected, and monks should be worshipped. Why are you monks being respected instead of being worshipped? Venerable ones, we thought you were Brahmins, not monks. Since that is the case, please forgive our ignorance." They sat silently without saying anything. At that time, the monks heard this and reported it to the Blessed One. The Blessed One thought: "What fault has arisen from the monks wearing the Brahma thread?" Therefore, monks should not wear the Brahma thread. If they wear it, it will constitute a serious offense. 'Venerable one, your teacher is compassionate and will allow it.' At that time, the monks reported this to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, 'In that case, allow the thread to be worn according to the doctor's advice.' Monks, when the disease is cured, the non-humans ridicule those who throw the thread away, saying: Venerables, if we are cured, we are not respectful now. At that time, the monks prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Do not throw it away at will, if the disease is not cured, tie it to the edge of the Dharma garment or the belt. But if it is completely cured, put it in the gap of the pillar or the gap of the wall. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was in Shravasti, in the garden of Prince Jeta, in the grove of Anathapindika. The six groups of monks put on their lower skirts and Dharma garments in the morning, and entered Shravasti to beg for alms, when the Brahmins and householders put ornaments in the vessels, and the six groups of monks picked up the anklets and bracelets and said: Lovely, dear, how beautiful! The Brahmins and householders said: Venerable, your head is bald, your armpits are smelly, what is beautiful about this body? Do not be eaten by ghosts, ascetic, you are tormented by the pleasures of desire! They sat there without saying a word. At that time, the monks heard it and prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One thought: The slight fault that occurred was caused by the monks decorating themselves with bracelets and anklets. Therefore, a monk should not decorate himself with bracelets and anklets. If decorated, it will be a serious crime. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was in Shravasti, in the garden of Prince Jeta, in the grove of Anathapindika. Those who take things in the temple without permission take the property of the Sangha.
