Therefore, a monk should not strike the pillar with his hand. If he strikes it, he will commit a serious offense. After the Blessed One instructed that a monk should not strike the pillar with his hand, the group of six monks caused the same fault by striking with their fists, elbows, shoulders, heads, ribs, backs, waists, thighs, knees, buttocks, feet, sticks, pestles, and others.
