Having prostrated to the gods and generated joy, having vanquished the enemy and circumambulated from the right, he went to the sky, the manifest direction of the world of the gods. Then, previously, the monk, the son of the gods, was like a merchant who had gained profit, like a farmer who had obtained a harvest, like a hero who had completely triumphed in battle, like a sick person who had completely escaped from all illnesses. With whatever demeanor he came before the Blessed One, he returned to his own abode with that same demeanor. The other monk also quickly went to Śrāvastī. Then, having put down his alms bowl and Dharma robes, and having washed his feet, he went to where the Blessed One was. Having gone there, he prostrated with his head to the two feet of the Blessed One, and sat to one side. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, by their very nature, to a monk who has suddenly arrived, (would say): "Monk, just now, from where have you come here? Where did you spend the summer?" They would make him rejoice with true joy. The Blessed One asked that monk, "From where have you come here? Where did you spend the summer?" and made him rejoice with true joy. He replied, "Venerable One, I have just now come here from the south, and I spent the summer in the south." The Blessed One said, "Monk, do you have a companion monk?" "Blessed One, I do." "Where did he go?" He told him what had happened. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke in verse, saying: "Whoever is disrespectful to my teaching, what benefit is there in seeing me? Even if he looks at me, it is not seeing, nor is it offering. The monk who studies my teachings, that one sees me. Even you, with your inferior wisdom, have not directly seen the Buddha." Then, the Blessed One opened his upper garment from his own body and again spoke in verse, saying: "Look, monk, at this body, pure and like the color of gold, it is the ripening of previous actions, and born from father and mother. Whoever has not seen the nature of Dharma, that one does not see the Complete Buddha. Whoever has seen the nature of Dharma, that one sees the Great Sage." Furthermore, "One who is steadfast and has virtuous intelligence, who protects the precepts, that one first sees me in the form of the body and the Dharma body.

Nga. The great one, Holder of Light (Ösung), even now after the completion of the disciplinary period, the leaves of the Ela tree have not escaped from the birthplace of the Nagas. The Blessed One considered, what slight fault has occurred? It is because the monks do not carry water strainers. Therefore, monks should keep water strainers nearby. The Blessed One said: Water strainers should be kept nearby. Then, the monks did not know how many kinds of water strainers there were, and the Blessed One taught: There are five kinds of water strainers: triangular water strainers, pot-shaped water strainers with spouts, round water strainers with bottoms, Yang water strainers, and broom water strainers. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. In Shravasti, two monks who harbored resentment towards each other went on a pilgrimage together. One of them had a water strainer, and the other did not. The one who had the water strainer strained the water and drank it, and the one who did not have it said: Venerable, lend me the water strainer. That person did not give it, causing that person to feel embarrassed. The monks reported to the Blessed One, The Blessed One taught: Monks, therefore, monks should not go on pilgrimage with those who harbor resentment. If such a situation occurs, they should ask each other for forgiveness before going together. Miscellaneous Matters of the Vinaya, Volume Five. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. In Shravasti, two monks went on a pilgrimage together, one of them had a water strainer, and the other did not. The one who did not have it asked him: Do you have a water strainer? He said yes. But he did not say whether he would lend it or not. Among them, the one who had the water strainer drank the water, and the one who did not have it said: Venerable, lend me the water strainer. That person said: Venerable, you asked me if I had a water strainer, but you did not ask me if I would lend it or not. Since that is the case, why should I lend you the water strainer? I will not lend it, go away. He did not lend it to that person, causing that person to feel embarrassed. The monks reported to the Blessed One.
