Eating is done in one portion. (Wearing) one garment, bathing naked. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti. Two monks from the south, having prostrated at the feet of the Bhagavan, were going to Shravasti. These two, having run out of water on the road and being tormented by the suffering of thirst, went to a pond, and one of the two said: "O long-lived one, quickly find water and let us drink." He began to search, but soon the water became impure, and he spoke this verse: "In hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, One who is very difficult to see, I will first drink this water, And then look at the guide." The other one spoke this verse: "Whoever has compassion in his heart for all sentient beings, And has completely abandoned attachment to all existence, By taking up the training in this supreme teaching of his, I would rather give up my life than kill a living being." After that, the one who drank the water left. The one who did not drink the water exerted effort, sitting under a tree in the forest, doing virtuous deeds as long as his body had strength, and when he lost the strength of his body, the time of death came, and he was born among the gods of the Four Great Kings. The nature of a son or daughter of the gods is that, not long after being born, three thoughts arise: from where did they die and transmigrate, where were they born, and by what karma were they born. He saw that he had died from among humans and was born among the gods of the Four Great Kings, and that he was born because he had developed great faith in the Bhagavan. Then, the former monk, the son of the gods, thought this: "Since it is not in accordance with my custom to rely on a place of complete dwelling and go near to see the Bhagavan and to serve and honor him, I will only go near to see the Bhagavan and to serve and honor him without relying on a place of complete dwelling." Then, the former monk, the son of the gods, taking with him shimmering, immaculate earrings, adorned with necklaces and semota.

His body was filled with divine flowers, such as lotuses, utpalas (藏文,梵文:utpala,梵文罗马拟音:utpala,汉语字面意思:blue lotus), kumudas, white lotuses, and mandāravas, with colors that were exceedingly transcendent, as if night had fallen. Then he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he scattered the flowers upon the Blessed One, bowed his head to the two feet of the Blessed One, and sat down to one side. Thus, previously, the son of the gods, the monk, through the power of his complexion, pervaded the entire Jeta Grove with great light. Then, the Blessed One, having understood the thoughts, predispositions, elements, and nature of the son of the gods, the monk, and having heard what the son of the gods, the monk, had previously said, while sitting on that very seat, shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, manifested the fruit of stream-entry, and taught the Dharma that enables one to perfectly and individually realize the four noble truths in such a way. Having seen the truth, the venerable Blessed One said, "What the Blessed One has done for me, such a thing, my father has not done for me, my mother has not done for me, the king has not done for me, the gods have not done for me, the ancestors of old have not done for me, the ascetics and brahmins have not done for me, the assemblies of loving ones, friends, and relatives have not done for me. He has dried up the ocean of blood and tears, delivered me from the mountains of bones, closed the doors of the evil destinies, opened the doors of higher realms and liberation, pulled beings out of hell, animals, and pretas, and placed them among gods and humans." Thus, three times he specially uttered, specially uttered. He also said: "By your power, I, who am greatly arrogant and full of many faults, have blocked the path to evil destinies, and am greatly endowed with merit. You have opened the path to higher realms, and I have also attained the path to nirvāṇa. Relying on you, who are utterly pure, today I have obtained the flawless, pure eye, and have obtained the peaceful state, pleasing to the noble ones, and have crossed to the other shore of the ocean of suffering. You are worshipped by beings, asuras, humans, and gods, free from birth, old age, sickness, and death, seeing existence as empty, exceedingly rare, the capable one, today I have seen you, and there is a great fruit." Then, the tamed one, with a necklace hanging down,
