So! Then, have you attained the fourth dhyana, goddess? Then, have you attained the third dhyana? Or the second? Or the first? Goddess. After saying this, the king, being jealous of the retinue of the queen, became even more angry and said to the ministers: Hey, knowledgeable ones, this individual ascetic has ruined my queen's retinue. Hurry and bring the big ants here quickly, and let them fill this cave and kill this ascetic. Then, a deity who originally resided in the pig's cave thought: If this cruel king kills the innocent and faultless ascetic who has come to me for refuge, that would be bad. I should strive for a way to make him escape. Thinking this, he transformed himself into the form of a large sow and came out of the cave. That king, who loved hunting, said to a man: Hey, go and bring my horse and bow and arrows. That man offered the king's horse and bow and arrows. Then, that sow came out of the garden and began to flee, and that king went after it, and it led the king far away. Then, the assembly of the queen's retinue said to the venerable Gavampati: Venerable, this king is cruel, it would be bad if you were killed, you should leave now quickly. The venerable Gavampati quickly took his bowl and robes, came out of that garden, and went to Shravasti. As soon as he arrived in Shravasti, the monks saw him and said: Venerable has come, well done, well done! You have been wandering for a long time like the moon, where do you come from? From कौशाम्बी (Kauśāmbī, Kausambi). How is it, venerable, are you well? How are the venerable ones doing well? I was killed by the king of बत्सा (Batsa, Batsa), प्रसेनजित् (Prasenajit, Prasenajit) of हட்பोर (Haṭpor, Hatpor), देउ (Deu, Deu). Why? When he spoke in detail, those monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said to a monk: Monk, come here! Where have you been, monk Gavampati?

Then he went to where the Blessed One was, and having arrived, he bowed to the Blessed One's two feet with his head, and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the Blessed One instructed the venerable cow abode, saying: 'Monk, why were you killed by King Badsa Charje?' He told the Blessed One the details of what happened at that time. The Blessed One instructed: 'Like you, a foolish person, because you are particularly attached to that cave, therefore you are in a state of extreme suffering.' He sat silently, and the Blessed One knew that the fault committed by the monks was caused by keeping long hair, so he instructed: 'Therefore, a monk should not keep long hair. If he keeps long hair, he will commit a serious offense.' The Blessed One instructed: 'A monk should not keep long hair.' Those monks who lived in the monastery, because they could not find anyone to shave their heads, left the monastery and lived in the villages. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, know and ask, therefore, the Blessed One Buddha asked the venerable Ananda: 'Ananda, why have the monks who lived in the monastery left the monastery and lived in the villages?' He told the Blessed One the details of what happened at that time. The Blessed One instructed: 'Therefore, it is permitted for the monks who live in the monastery to keep hair that is two fingers long. Those who live in the village should make it shorter than that.' The origin of the story is in Shravasti. In Shravasti, there was a sick monk, and he went to a doctor and said: 'Good man, please prescribe medicine for me.' The doctor said: 'Venerable one,'
