He told true stories that conformed to the Dharma, made them understand correctly, praised them correctly, made them very happy, and then returned. King Nyen-den should also widely understand the offering of umbrellas, just like the previous government. The umbrellas of both the king and the householder were equally good, with no victory or defeat. King Nyen-den sat there sullenly, and the ministers said: God, why are you sitting there sullenly? He said: Sages, I cannot defeat even the villagers who live in my country with a better umbrella, how can I not sit there sullenly? They said: God, if you forbid the sale of incense wood, then that householder will have no incense wood. The king said: Sages, those who live in my country should not sell wood. Those who sell wood should not live in my country, so proclaim it. After doing so, the innocent householder made umbrellas with incense wood, and began to cook cakes with cloths soaked in fragrant sesame oil, and the whole city of Nyen-den was filled with fragrance. King Nyen-den said: Sages, where does this fragrance come from? They told it widely, and he said: Don't I have utensils? I will do the same. The ministers said: God, it is not right to do so, because this householder has no son, and he will soon die, and all the property will belong to you. God, please allow the sale of incense wood. Then he allowed the sale of wood. The innocent householder heard that the king did not allow the sale of wood, and was very angry. He said: I can burn King Nyen-den and his mother to ashes with this wood, and he said some rude words. The king sat there sullenly, and the ministers said: God, why are you sullen

And abide here. They spoke in detail, and those gods said: Please do not displease the gods. We will try to make the gods able to harm the innocent householder. After saying this, they cleared away the stones, tiles, and gravel from the city of King Kinsman during the day on the following day, and then sprinkled them with sandalwood water. Incense burners filled with extremely fragrant scents were placed, silk ribbons were hung, and victory banners and flags were also erected. Various kinds of flowers were also spread, making it comparable to the well-decorated corridors of the pleasure garden. Then, precious cushions, mattresses, and gorgeous clothes decorated with various jewels were arranged, and delicious foods such as saffron, which were abundant, large, fragrant, and diverse, were prepared, which were as pleasing as heavenly dishes, and foods suitable for the lord of the three realms were arranged. Then he said to King Kinsman: We have prepared such a city of gods, food, and utensils, please enjoy them with joy. King Kinsman was very surprised to see this, and with a mind full of wonder, he visualized the Fully Enlightened Buddha, the All-Seeing One, and invited him at the appropriate time. He said: O Bhagavan, it is now the time for shade, please allow me to invite you. Monks, please consider that it is time now. Then, the Fully Enlightened Buddha, the All-Seeing One, put on his lower garment in the morning, took his bowl and robes, and was surrounded and led by the community of monks, and went to the residence of King Kinsman, and sat on the seat prepared for the community of monks. King Kinsman himself had the chief elephant, which belonged to the auspiciousness of empowerment, hold a hundred-spoked umbrella over the head of the Fully Enlightened Buddha, the All-Seeing One. Other elephants were also made to hold other umbrellas for the monks.

The noble queen of Lapo Nyenden had the maids fan them with whisks made of gold and jewels. For the monks, other groups of consorts also had whisks to fan them. The faultless householder appointed a very clever man and ordered him to go to Kwa'i Nangje and find out what kind of umbrellas King Nyenden was offering to the Blessed One and the community of monks. When he went and saw such wealth, he was greatly amazed and stayed there with a mind full of wonder. Similarly, when the second and third were sent, they also went and stayed there. Then the faultless householder himself went there and, seeing those riches, was greatly amazed and thought: 'Even if I could acquire wealth, how could I ever acquire elephants and a host of consorts?' Thinking this, he went home, called the gatekeeper, and said: 'Hey gatekeeper, whoever comes begging, give them whatever they want, but don't let them in.' After giving these instructions, he entered the chamber of sorrow, propped himself up with a cane, and sat there dejected. Then, the knowledge and vision of the lord of the gods, Indra, extends downwards, so he thought: 'Among those who are worthy of offerings in the world, the most supreme is the perfectly enlightened Buddha, and among the patrons, the faultless householder is the most supreme, so I should help him.' So he transformed himself into a Brahmin of the Kausika lineage and went to the house of the faultless householder, and after arriving, he called the gatekeeper and said: 'Hey gatekeeper, go and tell the faultless householder that a Brahmin of the Kausika lineage has come to the door and wants to see you.' The gatekeeper said: 'Brahmin, the householder has instructed me that whoever comes begging, I should give them whatever they want, but not let them in. What does the householder want from you? Take what you need and leave.' The Brahmin said: 'Hey gatekeeper, I don't need anything else, I just want to see the householder, go.' He went to the faultless householder.
