One should give with a pure mind to seize his property. Thinking thus, he said: This deity you possess, what should I divide? I will go to your bedroom, please come to my courtyard. Ajatashatru said: Good, let it be so. Then he moved to his house, and Fire-born moved to Ajatashatru's house. The house with splendor disappeared, and the place where Fire-born was appeared. After disappearing and appearing seven times like this, Ajatashatru thought: In this way, I cannot seize Fire-born's treasures, let me think of another way. Then he sent thieves, ordering: Today, go to Fire-born's house and steal the treasures. Those thieves began to climb with ladders, wooden frames, and ropes. The maids living in the upper palace saw them and shouted: There are thieves! There are thieves! Fire-born heard this and thought and said: Thieves, stop! Then they stopped at the place where they were climbing. When the night passed and it dawned, many people saw it and said: Wise ones, this evil king has killed the Dharma-abiding father king, and now he is going to destroy the home, why should we tolerate it? Ajatashatru sent a messenger to Fire-born, saying: Release them, otherwise I will be blamed. Fire-born thought and said: Thieves, leave! Then they left. Fire-born thought: The one who killed the Dharma-abiding father king like this will surely kill me. The Blessed One once prophesied that I would renounce in his teachings, cut off all defilements, and realize the Arhat fruit. In any case, I must go there and renounce. Then he gave all his wealth to the poor, the helpless, the destitute, and the sick.

gave them, making those without wealth wealthy. Then, the householder Fire-born, looking at his friends, relatives, close relatives, and brothers, went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving, bowed his head at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the householder Fire-born said to the Blessed One: Venerable one, if I could go forth and be fully ordained as a monk in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, then, in the presence of the Blessed One, I would like to practice the pure conduct. To that, the Blessed One said, "Monk, come here." As soon as the Blessed One said, "Monk, come here, practice the pure conduct," his hair immediately fell out, he put on the monastic robes, held a bowl and a water pot in his hand, shaved his hair and beard, and became as if seven days had passed, and he remained like a monk who had been ordained for a hundred years. By the Tathagata's words, "Come here," his hair fell out, he wore monastic robes, his senses were calmed and subdued, and his body was covered by the Buddha's intention. The Blessed One prophesied to him, and through his diligence, effort, and perseverance, he recognized the five aggregates of this cycle of existence, both moving and unmoving, and all conditioned phenomena were decayed, fallen, scattered, and destroyed. By destroying them with the nature of Dharma, he abandoned all defilements and directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Arhat was free from the desire of the three realms, regarded rubble and gold as equal, regarded the sky and the palm of his hand as equal, regarded sandalwood and cow dung as equal, broke the shell of ignorance with wisdom, obtained wisdom, supernormal powers, and individual perfect knowledge, turned his back on the gains and respect of existence and desire, and became an object to be offered to, remembered, and respected by the gods and their retinues. The monks became doubtful and asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, who cuts off all doubts: Venerable one, what deeds did this venerable Fire-born do

The maturation of that karma caused him to be burned on the pyre together with his mother, and he experienced the glory of gods and humans. Thereafter, he also went forth in the doctrine of the Blessed One, and having abandoned all defilements, he directly realized the state of an Arhat. The Blessed One declared: "Monks, the son of good family, Fire-born himself, having done and accumulated the collection of karmas, transforming the conditions, abiding near like a light, will undoubtedly occur. The karmas done and accumulated by Fire-born himself, who else will experience them individually? Monks, the karmas done and accumulated do not mature in the external earth element, nor do they mature in the water element, nor do they mature in the fire element, nor do they mature in the wind element. But thus, the virtuous and non-virtuous karmas done and accumulated will mature in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that have been taken. Karmas, even after hundreds of eons, will not be wasted; when the assembly and time are found, they will become fruits for embodied beings. Monks, in the past, ninety-one eons ago, a teacher, a Thus-Gone One, an Arhat, a Perfectly Complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, a Sugata, a Knower of the World, an unsurpassed tamer of beings, a teacher of gods and humans, a Buddha, a Blessed One, named Vipashyin appeared in the world. At that time, he traveled through the regions together with a retinue of sixty-two thousand monks, and arrived at the royal palace of Bandhumatī, and resided in the garden of Bandhumatī. At that time, in the royal palace of Bandhumatī, there was a king named Bandhuma, a king of Dharma, endowed with Dharma, so his kingdom was prosperous, flourishing, peaceful, and had good harvests, filled with people and many inhabitants, with strife, fighting, disputes, lawsuits, external enemies, internal conflicts, thieves, famine, and disease greatly pacified, and grain, sugarcane, cattle, and buffaloes were abundant. At that time, there was a householder named Niraparaadha, who was rich, possessed much wealth, enjoyed great possessions, was completely possessed, vast and extensive, possessed the wealth of Vaishravana, like Vaishravana.
